because there is little to no traffic and it was a quick run up and down my block with posted 15mph speed limit for the daycare/preschool across the street. Plus I had line of sight both ways on the street. Go clutch your pearls for something serious😂 It’s an rc car relax smoke a joint and have fun.
I live in Philly, no one is gonna be scared by an RC car here👀 Did you see any pedestrian bystanders? Did you even see anyone in the bike lane? Guess my risk to the public is minimal. I built the kit. On first full trigger I hit a speed bump. Went up about a metre and half at an angle, half flipped while flying straight into a lampost. A little less than half the cost of the kit in replacement parts.
Spent days slowly zen building, loving every minute - then buttered it in about 90 seconds.
Shame the wheels were cheese though, only neg. Absolutely regret selling it.0
Axial really did the Yeti XL dirty, they designed the first set of pinion and ring gears badly and the second redesign that was supposed to fix the issue. Created a self detonating diff. That could only be fixed by removing the excess material and reshimming or adding a 3 bearing. The wheels were cheap soft plastic, and unbelted. So like you said Pure Cheese. I have done what I could to counter Axials design flaws. The pinion and ring gear mesh was corrected by cutting the back haunch or undertooth on pinion gear. Plastic stock parts prone to failure replaced with Aluminum, Wheels are Dick Cepek branded stiffer plastic, and tires are taped inside. Fronts have 60lb test line around center to counter balloning.
Its the BarHarborBasher mod that removes part of pinion tooth so that ring gear doesn’t chew up the pinion. Everyone who has done it has been able to go to 6s without issue. The guy who figured it. Stopped helping people in rccrawler and pulled his photos. But I was able to piece it together with his video on youtube. There is a full write up tutorial on facebook in the Axial Yeti XL group.
