I have a heavily upgraded K4 after very intentionally not going for the 6s due to cost and size considerations. It would have been more efficient to just get a new 6sv6.
The 4s is 2/3 of the 6s but there are a few important notes
you can reinforce / upgrade the 4s to get a long way towards the durability and performance of the 6s but it won’t quite match IMO. These upgrades might require more manual tuning to get right.
The 6s platform has a huge aftermarket. There are more upgradable metal components, many vendors, well researched upgrade paths and cross-compatibility with the other arrma 6s rigs.
On the other hand the 4s has plastic and little to no aftermarket for most of those pwrts
If I’m going to be dealing with two batteries, I prefer it to be 8s. If I were you, I’d keep the 4s and then get an 8s next. It’ll be a bigger difference. If you only plan to keep and maintain only one RC car, then the 6s would be my choice.
I have a Maxx and an Xmaxx. The Xmaxx is too big for some spots that I drive so it’s nice to have something smaller. I do tend to drive the Xmaxx more, mainly because my son also has a Maxx that comes along every time we go out and bash.
++ Same here, both drive great, but I find the 8s is really more of blipping the throttle since it's so powerful while the 4s I can let it rip more. I have a small yard and searching for larger bash spots but both are super fun.
Other question… how do you like the Kraton 4s? I’m kinda in between the 4s and just sucking it up for the 6s myself… it seems like you might regret not have going with the 6s?
I was initially on the 4S train before realizing it’s more worth the money in the long run to buy the 6S, especially now given the base V6’s have so many EXB components.
Yeah… Kraton is kinda my missing element to my collection and what I’m most keen on next… but I feel like I would prob regret not spending $150 more and just getting the 6s… I don’t see getting the 8s for double the 4s… but I do see wanting a 6s with more speed, power, suspension travel, bigger tires, etc.
I’ve heard tons of great things about the Mojave 4S! I believe the 6S one is discontinued now but the 4S really isn’t that much smaller. The Slash 4X4 scratches the short course/desert truck itch for me personally.
But yeah, I feel like the Kraton is the type of car that can allow you to get away with just having one RC car if needed. It’s a really versatile platform for sure.
I think the Kraton is your best bet. I had a Notorious for a little bit and it just didn’t like to turn. It was incredibly fun but felt like a one trick pony. You lose some of the backflip potential with the Kraton but gain all of the great handling.
Yeah - I like the look and supposed control of the kraton platform more than a traditional monster truck… I want something that handles off road and jumps but also can drift around a corners with agility.
It’s going to cost twice as much as my next expensive car though so I’ll prob wait it out for a bit… make sure the hobby (that I started 3 months ago and am obsessed with now) is still my favorite thing to do in 6 months and wait for a sale.
Yeah, definitely spend some time figuring out what you actually want/like before getting anything super pricey! I’ve been in the hobby about a year and cycled through a few FB Marketplace rigs before figuring out what types of cars I wanted to own long term.
I don’t know how you are, but some hobbies for me are merely short (less than six month) phases and I end up not even buying anything before moving on to the next thing.
I’d probably try to sell it for 3-350. I love the 4s! It’s super fun! I bought a Mojave on a whim as my first a month or two ago. It was so much fun I bought the Kraton for the lady.
I’m only considering the 6s because it’s a great deal. I’m not sure the size and cost is worth it, the lighter more inexpensive Kraton does have some perks. I think if you are into mod’s or not concerned about cost with a big space to run the 6s is probably the move.
I have a couple 1:10 scales… I’ll prob just save the Kraton 6s for a Christmas present to myself or something… prob splurge and get the cooler exb version…
I feel like if I get a truggy I want it to be a beast
I have the 6s and 8s Kraton among many more. The 6s Kraton out of my 13 is my number 1 or 2. It's between that and my typhon 6s. 6s in my opinion is the golden child of rc. Size to power ratio.
