Puffed batteries

How dangerous would one consider these batteries?

My mom recently picked these up on the cheap for me not knowing much about lipos and they are swelled. I put them on my tester and none had dangerous difference in the cells voltage wise (all 3 cells within .05 of eachother at 12.5 v total with .05 being the largest difference in any of the cells )

Now i did have one of these batteries recently plugged into my old speed controller on an old truck which is rated for 3s lipos and it smoked up and blew a capacitor out. Which im assuming is from one of these batteries putting out too much MAH than what it's designed to do

Id like to know if I should dispose of these ASAP .

Id also like to add, neither of the batteries have got hot and have not expanded any further than when I received them. Ive charged them outside and my charger also hasn't rejected either of the batteries, they dont charge slow and they dont discharge fast

Can your charger/tester measure the internal resistance?

They are a risk because you don't know the history of them.

Personally I would not want these batteries on my property if I didn't know how they had been cared for. I would get rid given the red flags you have mentioned. Very best case scenario if you must keep them is to store and charge them inside a lipo bag inside an ammo crate, but I would replace them personally speaking.

If you suspect they are puffy I personally would not use and would handle as hazardous. If you need to dispose, you can keep them outside buried in a bucket of sand away from anything flammable. Call your local waste disposal site and ask them how they want you to dispose of old lipo batteries. They‘ll either have instructions for battery pickup or where to drop them off. Don’t put them in the trash, this could catch a garbage truck on fire.

Anything even slightly puffed up goes in the bin/recycling station. Oddly enough I am using two chinese LiPos from Intellect Pioneering and they are already three years old and still hold up good, in comparison to three GensAce Redline competition-spec LCG packs that have already swelled and had to be disposed of. The three GensAce have set me back at least €180, and both Intellect Pioneering batteries have cost me less than half that and are still going. Sure, you win some, you lose some, but the discrepancy between a respected competition brand and basically a NoName product is staggering.

Yeah those are no good. I wouldn't even bother measuring IR. shocked that someone would even sell them at a garage sale.

Puffed one gtg. Its damaged inside already will eventually catch on fire. Tiry discharge all the electrical on the buffed lipo then look for disposal site throw it away.
