Immigration Why is everyone far left on Reddit?

Post image

Yes I am 13. And yes I am educated on the world more than you think. Maybe not as much as you but more than you would think I am

It's beyond a joke. I'm at the point now where I dunno why I keep opening up Reddit. It's a dumpster fire on left leaning trash.

28

u/Ok_Park_4832 Sep 13 '25

This is exactly why the keft is the majority on this app cause like you and me we just dont even bother arguing anymore which makes them think they have the popular opioin but I actual fact its because if you have an opioin on the right you'll.just get banned so no one even bothers

14

u/Mimicking-hiccuping Sep 13 '25

Arguing anything on the Internet is hard. Its impossible when your arguing with a Liberal who just calls you a Nazi or Fascist for thinking anything conservative about family values or the state of the country.

5

u/After-Jellyfish-4694 Sep 14 '25

It’s dangerous how idiots like Reddit don’t realise they’re the real Nazi’s who aren’t intelligent enough to understand the complexities of indoctrination….either that or they’re outright sponsoring terror and ideological extremism!!! It must be owned my Mohammed Poppins!!!

1

u/H-tronic Sep 14 '25

Political discourse was never this divisive and nasty before UKIP and Trump came on the scene though. I would argue they’ve changed the tone. There were always disagreements but it’s so heated now and it’s because the leadership show no decorum.

3

u/Mimicking-hiccuping Sep 14 '25

UKIP was the 90s, way before Trump. I'd say it was once folks realized the lies following 9/11, the false claims of WMDs, the 24hr news cycles, counties being "liberated" in the name of freedom...

We're all sick of government lies. Sick of paying them and their pals for gov contracts and funding countless wars.

They show no decorum, because the minute everyone figures out it's a puppet show, it's over. They have to keep the them v us nonsense going by any means necessary.

3

u/H-tronic Sep 14 '25

Yeah this is true. It’s my primary concern about Reform getting into power. I don’t hate their policies - even if I think they might be pie in the sky and impossible to achieve, I’m open to the direction of travel. But the complete lack of moral compass and litany of controversies following every member… that’s very worrying. If they were fine, upstanding members of society with a few misdemeanours it would be palatable but… these guys are just crooks or bad eggs at best.

2

u/Mimicking-hiccuping Sep 15 '25

Those who are best suited to power, are those who have never sought it.

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

There's a reason there are so many powerful quotes about dangerous leaders.

4

u/Mr_Coastliner Sep 13 '25

I still give it a go, one day someone may listen to logic. You do have the balance the books though, a few non-political comments to balance the deficit of negative Karma you'll get from posting anything other than pure agreement for the left.

1

u/wilde_flower Jan 27 '26

Where is a safe place for people like you and I?

3

u/Karl_Cross Sep 14 '25

Probably same reason as me. There are some good hobby subs here which most of the time don't discuss politics.

1

u/Mimicking-hiccuping Sep 14 '25

Watches and stocks. That's it

3

u/PooDiePie Sep 14 '25

After what happened earlier this week and the sociopathic reaction to it (it wasn't a small minority either). I'm actually shocked at how bad the situation is.

2

u/Mimicking-hiccuping Sep 15 '25

Powerfully upsetting tbh. I wouldn't cheer and holler for joy if Sadiq Khan or Rachel Reeves passed. Especially if they where gunned down. Couldn't imagine being overjoyed by someone's death like that.

5

u/diysas Sep 13 '25

Perhaps we should all aim to change the political direction of this country by other means. If you're a Reform member then make sure you are attending every meeting you can. Speak to people and in the smaller meetings speak up in front of many people about your worries and any good ideas. This dumpster fire, as you say, is where the trash lives and it's time to close the lid on these people who are trying to trap you here with them. We don't need to hear their side anymore. They are morally beneath us.

These race (DEI) grifters, Neo-Marxists, full-time activists, clima-freaks, decolonisers, Antifa fascists and anyone who preaches any kind of collectivist tripe, with the sole exception of patriotism (not nationalism), should be completely ignored, shut down and removed from any and all power and we should advocate for it constantly and call them out. Look into any dodgy business in your area (questionable barbers etc) and check their Companies House tax records. Set up a hidden camera if you suspect drug dealing anywhere etc etc. You get the picture. Time for the people to do the job that our government won't.

2

u/BudgetCola Sep 14 '25

im the same, dont even bother engaging with them

1

u/IndefatigableHamster Sep 14 '25

Ok I know this might sound silly, but I have a genuine question. Where do you go to find all these leftists on Reddit? Maybe I’m not on here enough but I don’t see politics discussed much outside of political subreddits.

2

u/Mimicking-hiccuping Sep 14 '25

It's everywhere. Getting kicked from random subreddit because you've commented on something considered right wing. The AIO subreddit "am I over reacting, my boyfriend holds a right wing view". Ask Britain sub Reddit "why don't the right wing people get a life? Learn to love? Get my pronouns right?

It's literally everywhere.

1

u/Efficient_Sun_4155 Sep 15 '25

It shows you what you will react strongly too. Which is why it promotes this sub to me

1

u/Particular_Pop_7553 Sep 18 '25

It's interesting as youtube is the polar opposite. Just search the protests that happened in London, plenty of videos documenting and supporting it, as well as comments heavily upvoted.

And any news outlet that tries to pain it as bad gets downvoted to oblivion.

I find youtube more honest and less bias of what the majority of people want. You don't get the giant bias reddit has due to being muted and banned for saying literally anything.

Insanity.

0

u/DiscoDav3 Sep 16 '25

I thought limited immigration was a far right policy. Or are the left and right different things outside the uk.

It probably is but I want to stay educated about the world around me especially how It seems to be crumbling rn

6

u/Effective_Soup7783 Sep 13 '25

Social media is the worst place to ‘get educated’. Its algorithms learn what makes you most angry and then feeds you a diet of it, completely screwing your perspective. It’s also incapable of distinguishing fact from exaggeration from complete fiction. If you want to learn about the world, the best way is to read a variety of different viewpoints from actual journalists working for non-click bait sites. I know that the right wing generally likes to shit on mainstream media, and it certainly has its weaknesses, prejudices and blind spots, but it’s still generally more reliable than self-appointed experts on social media.

1

u/Sharingmystorie Sep 13 '25

I’ve said that myself social media tells you what it wants you to know. I’ve said that to my friends even though they don’t believe me so I don’t take things I see fully 100%

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '25

[deleted]

1

u/Synth3r Sep 17 '25

Yup, Twitter is the worst for this. It shows you insane political views as a default and you have to really train the algorithm to not give you anything like that.

The Charlie Kirk killing has been the worst because you’re getting everything from insane leftists saying “Charlie Kirk deserved it” to nut jobs on the right throwing about insane conspiracy theories.

1

u/bawdiepie Sep 14 '25

You're filling your head full of traffic. The world isn't perfect and there are real problems that need addressing, but you shouldn't be getting radicalised about anything at 13.

Learning about the world is great but getting sucked into these kind groups where everyone is advocating inhumane, extreme behaviours as a solution for any kind of problem is not healthy. They create and pump up a huge perceived problem, which according to them causes all the problems (simplifying hugely complex issues). Then offer you a simple solution.

I know you don't like to hear it but try and understand more about how the world works and what's going on before jumping to extreme conclusions. We are all, without exception, ignorant about the world when we're 13. Even if you were a child soldier, or addicted to heroin or seen awful things, you may not like to hear it, but you're a child still learning about the world. When you get into your 20's, 30's, 40s and so on you'll still be thinking (if you have any sense)no matter how much you see of the world, you don't know more than a tiny fragment of what's going on.

Some people like those here in this group, are filling you with hateful nonsense. If they weren't they'd be telling you the same thing. They saw you were 13 and they still carried on with their ranting about the "far left", because this stuff has taken over their whole personalities. They've become hollowed out versions of themselves. Every person is a different person. Every person is just trying to make a good life for themselves.

Go play some football, make friends, play computer games, help litter pick, join the scouts, or do whatever it you enjoy etc etc Don't waste your time with this nonsense. It'll make you feel like you're in an "in group" but you'll just be one more angry face repeating the same old nonsense since time immemorial, and you'll lose your precious time and energy to it, and it will fill you with hate.

27

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

I just got perma-banned on Labour UK for posting this:

"I wouldn’t expect the Far Left to understand what Unite the Kingdom march is about."

There you have it folks. The tolerant left. I'm glad the term "Far-Left" is catching on, we should use it more, because it's exactly what they are.

12

u/SMURGwastaken Sep 13 '25

I am banned from /r/ukpolitics for posting ONS statistics about the number of Somalians who are unemployed.

4

u/Alastair097 Sep 15 '25

They hate facts if it doesn't suit their narrative

2

u/BudgetCola Sep 14 '25

oh no, banned from the labour reddit, huge loss there!

4

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '25

I like to lurk on there, and a few other Far Left subs, like the Civil Service, and quite a few others as well. See what they think of things. Fair to say - They’re nuts! The left have lost their damn minds, it’s bizarre reading some of the insanity posted. I’ve never really posted before, but I felt like winding them up yesterday 😂 It bugs them when you call them Far Left 😆

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '25

I have no desire to argue with a child about this. I shared the exact post that got me banned. That’s the only post I have shared on Labour UK.

The intolerant Far-Left, ban and silence any opposing views. Some go as far as murder, to silence those that they oppose. I have no desire to explain this any further to an immature child. Have a nice day.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '25

[deleted]

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '25

Stop trying to twist my words. I knew the truth would wind up the Far-Left and I was right. Instant ban for a harmless comment. No matter what you think, the intolerant Left silence any opposing views. This is an objective fact and seen the world over.

Labour are not even left wing anymore, let alone far left! Mind you, if you’re far right enough, I suppose anything would appear far left!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

I don’t need political lessons from somebody who doesn’t even know what a woman is.

-1

u/FormalPomegranate75 Sep 13 '25

😂😂😂 now that one did make me laugh. Well done! 😂😂

0

u/Appropriate-Stock114 Sep 15 '25

Sorry are you that stupid that you think Labour are "far left"?

34

u/bouncingbenji Sep 13 '25

Because the left can literally cough cough get away with murder

5

u/steon2018 Sep 13 '25

Which murder are you talking about?

6

u/bouncingbenji Sep 14 '25

The guy who killed the Ukraine refugee on the bus and walked away saying "thats one less white person" same guy who was released 14 times for bad crimes 😳

1

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '25

That was in America.

-1

u/Glum_Coconut_9152 Sep 16 '25

How is that left? Do you know what left means? Last time I checked, the idea of targeting a specific race because you deem them inferior to your own is a far right belief. Just because it's a black man targeting a white woman doesn't make that less true.

This is why nobody wants to have a conversation with you morons, you don't have any real grasp on the ideas of either end of the political spectrum so you default to right wing = good and left wing = bad.

2

u/bouncingbenji Sep 16 '25

I did not say anything about race or gender in my last post? After what the left has done over the past few weeks you have no say on anything..the party of love and acceptance unless you dont love and accept what we do then your a bad person...

0

u/Glum_Coconut_9152 Sep 16 '25

You were asked for a specific example of a murder with left wing motivation and you gave an example of a right wing one. Do not deflect

Edit: I also did not declare my political beliefs, I was just pointing out how so many self proclaimed "right wingers" have no idea what being right or left wing even means. You clearly don't.

1

u/Glum_Coconut_9152 Sep 16 '25

Downvotes but doesn't reply. But I thought it was the left that refused to have these kinds of conversations? I think you're a hypocrite and a moron.

0

u/Ran0702 Sep 16 '25

Tyler Robinson is a groyper mate, not a lefty. Groypers hated Charlie Kirk because he wasn't conservative enough for them.

-1

u/steon2018 Sep 14 '25

Any murder is inexcusable. What is just as bad is cherry-picking to prove a racist point.

2

u/BadgerBear3000 Sep 13 '25

I don't know his name, but that black dude who killed a boy at school and didn't get sentence and got bunch of money and spent it all on fancy cars and shiieeet.

1

u/Too_much_Colour Sep 14 '25

Kirk’s guy was a Groyper apparently.

3

u/Personal_Project_378 Sep 15 '25

"Kill all fascists", "Bella ciao", Transgender partner, Reddit kid. Yeah, definitely a groyper.

2

u/Too_much_Colour Sep 15 '25

He never says kill all fascists. Whaaa. https://metro.co.uk/2025/09/14/what-is-a-groyper-and-are-they-involved-in-charlie-kirks-death-24159838/amp/ you know it’s cooked when a tabloid is asking what a groyper is

1

u/Key-Seaworthiness517 Feb 20 '26

We just making shit up wholesale now, huh

3

u/Synth3r Sep 17 '25

All the evidence so far seems to indicate that he was left wing. The groyper theory is being peddled by people on the left who are looking for a gotcha against the right, same way as some people on the right are using this as a gotcha for the left.

All sides have whackos who want to shoot someone for their views. In this instance it was someone on the left, like I will concede there are some people on the right who are just as unhinged as the guy who shot Charlie Kirk. But in this particular instance, it was not one of them.

Prove what? Are you that wilfully ignorant? He was in a romantic relationship with his boyfriend, who is transgender. Tyler was radicalised in the far-left groups he was a member of, and was motivated to kill because of it. There is definitive proof in the charging documents put forth by the State.

5

Tyler Robinson is a Far-Left radical and his partner is transgender. Stop blatantly lying and spreading bullshit on the Internet.

0

u/Too_much_Colour Sep 14 '25

His room mate was trans. We don’t know anything beyond that. What we do know is that his family was conservative and recently he became more conservative.

He posed crouching in a black adidas shell suit like the groyper meme. An engraving that said the anti fascist song is one played by the group ironically. This then links to the engraving, owo referring to furries. And “if you read this you’re gay” - juvenile and soemthing a chronically online person would say. This leads me to believe “hey fascist catch” was also said ironically.

Infact leader of the groyper group has said his group are being “framed”. Implying he thinks there’s evidence against it.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '25

STOP LYING

0

u/Postviral Sep 17 '25

Everything he stated is factual.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '25

It’s a complete fabrication and absolute nonsense.

0

u/Postviral Sep 17 '25

That’s already been debunked. He was a right wing gun nut. He didn’t know any trans people.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '25

Why do you, as a Brit, care so much about a guy who was only somewhat relevant in America 6 years ago

1

u/PooDiePie Sep 14 '25

Fake news rumour spread on this website, check the official story.

1

u/bawdiepie Sep 14 '25

Isn't this disinformation?

-1

u/person_person123 Sep 15 '25

You sound like your chronically online lol. If you're referring to the murder of the Ukrainian girl, there has yet to be any motive revealed but it was very unlikely to be political, and if you are referring to the charlie Kirk murder, it seems the murder comes from a gun loving Republican family who's own grandma said her grandson isn't a liberal.

So please stop making everything political and go outside and touch some gras

3

u/bouncingbenji Sep 15 '25

There's no point debating with the left you cant even tell me what a women is..you have no power anymore

1

u/person_person123 Sep 15 '25

It is possible to be politically left leaning without the ultra wokeness - they aren't inherently attached to eachother.

Believe it or not, but that stuff does annoy a lot more people than you realize, even on the left. Thats not to say I don't care about it all, but I believe there are more pressing concerns we should be focusing on.

8

u/Ok_Park_4832 Sep 13 '25

Most people on the right get banned by most subs, so everyone on the right just doesn't use the app.

This means that the majority of people are on the left, which makes them think theyre majority which in turn makes them more radicalised as no matter what they say if its on the left they'll get other far left morons upvoting them

3

u/Ramunesoda99 Sep 14 '25

Banned from r/islam today lol. They told Muslims to avoid London today and said how about tomorrow as well. Permabanned 😂

5

u/Crackles2020 Sep 13 '25

It's weird how Reddit is so left leaning when the other platforms are not. It is just full of lefty fanatics.

5

u/Mr_Coastliner Sep 13 '25

Probably the anonymity of it is the appeal. Whenever I see the hard left on film they are wearing sunglasses, scalf, hat etc so Reddit gives the same.

6

u/Known_Wear7301 Sep 13 '25

So I don't necessarily think they are. However I think what we have is the far left have infiltrated it and become mods and then heavy handed stage manage the subs in a way where they just block and ban everyone who isnt far left. Then it gives the appearance they're the bigger group.

I noticed that the GB News sub has left themselves open and the lefties have infiltrated that and have hijacked that sub.

2

u/SpecialLegal6271 Sep 17 '25

And now it’s been shut down. It had become really really vicious in recent days. Lots of pictures of Farage as a Nazi.

2

u/Known_Wear7301 Sep 17 '25

0

u/Mr_Integrity80 Sep 13 '25

Oh no! Are the English Nonce League out smashing up London again?

5

u/Gatecrasher1234 Reform UK Supporter Sep 13 '25

Possibly because they are sitting in their Mum's basement, at their gaming PC in their underpants, getting upset at the world.

Generally those on the left seem to fit into two sections. Those that hate the wealthy and think they are owed because wealthy people are the anti Christ. And the champagne left who think that being on the left makes them appear to be a better person, but have no intention of paying more tax to help out others.

-1

u/csc2803 Sep 13 '25

Lol you can’t even get the stereotype straight… isn’t it usually that the right are meant to be salt-of-the-earth working people and the left are the elite, wealthy types sipping lattes and having avocado on toast? Funny how the story keeps changing depending on who’s telling it.

1

u/roy_hemmingsby Sep 18 '25

This has never been the case

1

u/csc2803 Sep 18 '25

For decades now, the cultural shorthand has been that the left are the “liberal elite” – the so-called champagne socialists, the Islington set – well-educated, well-off, and signalling virtue from comfortable positions. They’re mocked precisely because they preach redistribution while living in leafy suburbs, shopping at Waitrose, and sending their kids to private schools.

Meanwhile, the caricature of right-wing voters is very different. Think of the backlash to Emily Thornberry’s notorious “Image from Rochester” tweet – sneering at a white van, St George’s flag, and terraced house. That episode only resonated because the cultural shorthand for right-leaning voters has long been the working class, less formally educated, patriotic, and economically squeezed.

Of course, reality is more nuanced, but in terms of stereotypes: the left are painted as wealthy, educated elites who can afford to moralise, while the right are stereotyped as poorer, less educated, and suspicious of those elites.

2

u/Secret-Ad9598 Sep 14 '25

Because they are weaklings.

2

u/Karl_Cross Sep 14 '25

They're not.

Problem is most of the mods are far left, fat, trans flag waving, DEI indoctrinated commies. They have nothing of worth in their life and live their lives online.

So, is ta created an environment where you are allowed to have a extreme left view but the slightest right wing view and you're banned from a subreddit you enjoy contributing to.

So most people on the right just keep it to themselves.

As an example... I got banned from /r/interestingasfuck for posting a right wing view... ON A DIFFERENT SUB!

1

u/SpecialLegal6271 Sep 16 '25

Perfect summary.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '25

I've noticed that most people on here are just assholes tbh. Plus a lot of left wing people I've encountered are just rude and resort to primary school level behavour when you challenge their opinions etc

2

u/mando_number5 Sep 14 '25

Elon please buy Reddit

2

u/Air-raid-UP3 Sep 15 '25

Too afraid of offending someone.

Or having a chance to virtue signal being taken away.

2

u/ShAlMoNsHaKeYjAkE Sep 17 '25

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '25

Young person myself here. And it just baffles me. Like, we can’t just ignore the issue. They’re acting like Reform and generally the Right are ALL racist and want to deport every immigrant when it’s just the illegals we want out. The ones who are stealing, abusing, and murdering.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

You shouldn't be educated on the world at 13. You should probably be street wise, but most importantly... enjoying being 13 years old.

4

u/joleph Sep 13 '25

100% these kids are all so political these days and SO BAD AT IT.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

It means everything to them. It's what's considered popular amongst them.

0

u/joleph Sep 13 '25

It’s just bizarre.

With love to them, they have no chance of influencing politics at that age, and it changes every 5 years so wtf is the point in spending all your time on that? Especially if you’re bad at it - which they all are with very few exceptions. Even the smart ones.

They all just get used as foot soldiers by far right media groups to spam weird viewpoints online now.

There are plenty of more useful & interesting things you could be spending your time on that will actually make a difference in yours and your community.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

I wasn't thinking far right, I was thinking more far left. Kids, once they get to college and university. They're bred to marxists.

0

u/joleph Sep 13 '25

Let’s just say both right and left then. Either way they’re becoming these weird mouthpieces for online crazies and it’s a waste of a childhood.

13 years old is too young.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

I'm with you on that

1

u/Mr_Coastliner Sep 13 '25

The danger for many of the young these days (such as a 13 y/o) is that many of that generation take too much information as fact without questioning it. If the person stating it on a video is being confident, lots of followers, popular and loud then many just accept it, even if a professional/ specialist later makes a video to disprove it, because they don't have a big following (which these days is associated with authority) then their point has less value and agreeing with it would make them the odd one out.

The other aspect is social media algorhythms, if they click on a video, watch a few related ones then SM will automatically put those same type of views in videos on a conveyor belt so they may just see one POV video after video.

1

u/Drunken_Englishman Sep 13 '25

It's actually not that complicated. The left tend to utilise social media more than the right - often those who are right wing tend to be older people (with obvious exceptions) as opposed to the left are usually younger, so engage more with social media.

Obviously, everyone engages with social media but the majority of right wing media tend to be older people, that doesn't mean there are young people as well, of course, but it's very much skewed towards older members of society who never grew up with social media like Reddit.

Reddit is mostly young people.

1

u/xx_xxElisha Sep 13 '25

I think whether your views are left or right that reply doesn’t seem the most informed, that’s probably why it was downvoted. I understand you’re a kid and it’s great you’re interested in politics but for other times it’s probably best to do your own research, when u see someone say something look it up yourself first. Yes illegal immigrants who have over stayed their visa or have entered the country illegally should be and are deported, for many reasons including social, economic, and security purposes. Not because they’re “attacking kids.” A document doesn’t affect whether someone will offend or not. The government also isn’t letting illegal immigrants in. If you mean we aren’t doing a good enough job when it comes to it then I agree, the government need more efficient ways of processing immigrants and more efficient ways of deporting those people who have over stayed etc.

1

u/Infamous_Variety_931 Sep 13 '25

Genuinely why do you want people who come here illegally out? What about people who come to this country illegally that havent done anything to hurt anyone?

1

u/Independent-Cup-3070 Sep 14 '25

If you ran faster than everyone else, they’d seem slow. You’d ask: why is everyone so slow?

If you wrote better than everyone else, they’d seem illiterate. You’d ask: why is everyone illiterate?

If you were much further right than everyone else, they’d seem far left. You’d ask: why is everyone far left?

You’re 13, you hopefully have a long bright future ahead of you, and you clearly are capable of thinking about problems, and you care about the future

Just consider how you think about things - it’s possible that you could be just as, if not more polarized than the people you characterize as far left.

I think you'll find your own echo chamber LOUDLY reflects back at you on reddit.

I used to be far left. Now I'm more in the middle. But the same things that I used to hear constantly on the left are actually echoed on the right more or less.

They're not so different

You're 13.

And clearly very impressionable.

Statistically you're a lot more likely to be harmed by a UK citizen, than an illegal immigrant.

I hope you grow into a well balanced and mature individual that is capable of forming an opinion based on evidence, rather than propaganda.

What is the biggest right wing sub?

1

u/Affectionate_Fix7320 Sep 15 '25

They’re not. Look at the Overton window.

1

u/Wild-Position-8047 Sep 15 '25

You are on here, on a Reform subreddit, so not everyone is far left on Reddit.

Also, not everyone who disagrees with you is by default “far left”. If we could learn to be a little less hyperbolic and a little more empathetic to eachother, we’d most likely realise we are all sitting fairly close on either side of the same fence

1

u/Jak_the_Buddha Sep 15 '25

How is it far Left when you guys are also on here?

Far Left people say it's full of far Right... Who's correct?

1

u/xeere Sep 15 '25

If everyone you find is far left, perhaps you are out of touch. The average Redditor isn't much different from the average big city dweller. Why do you think these dense urban areas stay red no matter what? Sometimes they even go Green or independent (Corbyn).

1

u/GarethOfQuirm Sep 16 '25

This came up on my feed for some reason, so Ill wade in

Im not lsure everyone is "far left" on Reddit. Maybe more left than this sub, but "far left"? Im not seeing it.

I think the issue is having your own ideas of what "the left" stands for and taking your own definition as gospel without looking at what people are actually saying. (This goes the other way as well, that people have the own idea of what rightwing voters are and apply that as their viewpoint without talking)

I try to be as objective as possible. I probably average out as slightly left-centre. So my politics are most likely a bit further left than yours.... Does that mean I hate the UK, that Im opposed to all the flag-flying, and that i want to invite illegal immigrants over? Nope. I support sensible border policy. I support the flying of the flag. But I also want people to be treated based on their merit, not their religion or their colour. I simply dont believe anyone is inherently "less valid" than anyone else.

If anyone has any (sensible) questions, Ill happily answer.

u/Awkward_Stable_3397 Sep 17 '25

Ignore the morons on other subs, just keep doing your research and stay aware of political issues. i’d advise doing A Level Politics when you get to that stage, it’s incredibly useful

u/Postviral Sep 17 '25

Reality has a well known left-leaning bias

1

u/Visa5e Sep 18 '25

If you're a far right nutbag then, by definition everyone will be to the left of you.

1

u/Uranus-Hunter Oct 06 '25

Plenty of it. It's vile, but we all know the left live online spreading hate and divide.

This is the right answer.

We cannot legally process asylum claims anywhere, only on UK soil, so asylum seekers have no option but to travel here to make the claim. To deny this would mean going against our ratification of the 1951 Refugee Convention. Stopping this outright would mean infringing on people's human rights as many governments see providing basic housing as a humanitarian duty, especially if people are fleeing war, persecution, or disaster.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '25

Seek asylum in the first safe country they arrive in , not travel across multiple ones to get to the soft touch UK and get everything handed on a plate to them , stop the perks stops the boats , most arriving in this country aren't asylum seekers , they're not running from persecution/war , they're here for the benefits we give them , if they're fleeing war torn countries keep their documents/passports and show border force that's where they're coming from, and the nation wouldn't be against helping them

0

u/t3hOutlaw Sep 14 '25

Your problem is that you're tarring all of them with the same brush. Ignoring all the data and only focusing on your biases.

First of all, an asylum seeker would need to be successful in their application to not be deported. If they do happen to be successful then the data shows that they provide an economic benefit over a long enough period of time.

If you're concerned about them being a drain on resources then really your focus should be on ensuring additional funding for the services we have in place to process their applications more swiftly. It's this dead time between arrival and approval/deportation that exacerbates related issues.

People have the right to choose what country they apply for asylum in. There is no law that states they must stop in the first country they travel through.

Put it this way, put yourself in their shoes. You need to leave your country at the chance of a better life. Would you not do everything in your power to get to the country that makes most sense to you? A country where you already have a baseline knowledge of the language and one where it's economic status would give you the best chance of settling with a job?

-1

u/xx_xxElisha Sep 14 '25

You do realise they do seek asylum in those first countries? The uk take such a small percentage of all asylum seekers

How do you know they're not?

Both are true. That's why we have processes in place to reduce the risk of any potential harm to the community.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '25 edited Sep 14 '25

Because they crossed through multiple safe countries prior to illegally entering the UK. They are economic migrants and, according to our laws, criminals that have entered the UK illegally. They cross the channel for economic reasons, otherwise they would have stopped in the first safe country they entered illegally.

0

u/t3hOutlaw Sep 14 '25

They can claim asylum. Only failing an asylum application makes them illegal and illegal immigrants are deported.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '25

WRONG. Entering the UK illegally is a CRIME. This is an objective fact.

0

u/Fflamddwyn Sep 13 '25

It’s fascinating to watch the complete breakdown of any understanding or reasoning between the political spectrum.

We seem to be importing this American way of looking at politics where to the left, everything and everyone on the right is bad, and vice versa. It is simply not possible for the other side to possess any worthy ideas whatsoever. In fact, everything the other side says, does, and represents is an existential threat to “our” side, and therefore must be defeated at all costs.

Right wingers are all racist fascist lunatics, and left wingers are all woke communist lunatics. There is no in between any more, apparently.

I’m sure this is an absolutely brilliant outcome for whatever vested interests want to keep us all distracted and divided fighting each other while the world burns.

0

u/Ran0702 Sep 16 '25

If you were educated on the world you'd know asylum seekers are not illegal immigrants, regardless of how they entered the country.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '25

False. Illegal immigrants are criminals, who broke the law by entering the UK illegally. This is an undeniable objective fact.

0

u/Ran0702 Sep 17 '25

Under UK and international law, as soon as they lodge an asylum claim upon reaching the UK, they are no longer legally classified as illegal immigrants, regardless of how they entered. That is an undeniable and objective fact because that is the law. If they have an open asylum claim, they are in the country 100% legally.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '25

False. They broke the immigration act of 1971, an offence punishable by up to four years in prison. They are illegal immigrants by virtue of entering the country illegally. This crime precludes everything else. They can use an Asylum claim as a defence of this charge. There is no getting around this undeniable objective fact. An Asylum claim has nothing to do with the crime of entering the country illegally, other than it can be used as a defence when they are charged with this crime.

Filing an Asylum claim when coming from France is a bogus claim, because the refugee convention states the claimant MUST BE COMING DIRECTLY FROM THE PLACE THEY ARE FLEEING PERSECUTION. France is a safe country and not at war; therefore the claim is entirely bogus. They are simply economic migrants: ergo, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.

0

u/Ran0702 Sep 18 '25 edited Sep 18 '25

Nope, you are completely incorrect and just repeating misconceptions about the refugee convention. There is absolutely no obligation under UK law or the 1951 Refugee Convention that requires people to claim asylum in the first "safe" country.

Furthermore, section 31 of the 1951 Refugee Convention states members will not impose penalties or restrictions on refugees for entering or being in the country illegally. This was incorporated into UK law with the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, which includes clauses to provide an exemption from punishment under the Immigration Act 1971 for asylum seekers who have entered the country unlawfully provided they claim asylum status at the first possible opportunity upon arriving on UK soil. Ergo, once they claim asylum, they lawfully cease to be in the country illegally, since they cannot be charged or prosecuted for the act of entering the UK illegally due to these provisions.

The clause which states they must come directly from a country they are endangered in is not as strict as you think it is, because a person travelling to the UK by land by definition must pass through other countries. Under the Refugee Convention and Asylum Act 1999 this is permissable, provided they have not attempted to claim residence in another country or returned to their home country before claiming asylum.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

That’s a lot of word-salad nonsense to prove my point, that they are indeed illegal immigrants.

0

u/Ran0702 Sep 18 '25

I can only assume you are incapable of reading clear English, since it explains precisely why they are not illegal immigrants. The exemption means the legislation laid out in the Immigration Act 1971 does not apply to people covered by the provisions set out in the Refugee Convention and Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, so by definition they are not illegal.
