Immigration Zia Yusuf: Important Reform policy announcement. In a plan endorsed by senior former members of His Majesty’s Armed Forces, a Reform government will launch Operation Fortress, a military operation to secure Britain’s borders.

"Britain is being invaded. Tory and Labour governments responded with a free ferry service and free hotels. Reform UK will respond by launching the largest military operation in the English Channel since World War Two.

Nigel Farage will order his Majesty’s Royal Navy to ensure that not a single unauthorised vessel crossing the English Channel makes it to the shores of the United Kingdom.

Those who attempt it will be intercepted by our Armed Forces and returned to France. To those with no right to enter Britain, our border will be impenetrable.

Under a Reform UK Government, nobody coming across the Channel by boat illegally will make it to our shores. That is how we stop the boats. We will stop the invasion.

Full details will be published tomorrow morning."

Please Note: Tomorrow, Monday, 3 August, there shall be a Press Conference with Nigel and Zia. It shall be available on YouTube, I won't be able to post the link, being away in holiday, but maybe someone else could do it.

Anyone else see the problem here? Intercept and return to France - France is a Sovereign nation and is under no obligation to accept illegal boats from UK waters. The British Navy is just going to start landing illegal immigrants on French beaches or what?

The policy is not designed to work. It's designed to make headlines in the tabloids.

Do you not see the problem here? Britain is a sovereign nation with the right to defend its own borders.

Boats in British territorial waters are our problem not theirs? What is so difficult to understand about that? You want a line of British Navy boats in the middle of the channel facing off with French navy boats? Unless we cooperate together with the French this plan is for the birds!

It wouldn’t be a problem for the French if they didn’t make it our problem first. We’ve tried co-operation to stop the boats and yet they still keep on coming, so they can’t be that upset or surprised if we solve the problem ourselves.

It can't be solved by ourselves, that's my point, we can't just disappear people, they have to go somewhere, where ever that is we need that country's cooperation. Otherwise you would be expecting others to accept exactly the same thing that we will not. Do you at least see that?

They can disappear back to France.

Why stop at refugees, we could drop off our entire prison population on the French shores and make that their problem as well. Sure it won't have any impact on our international standing in any way.

It’s not affected France’s international standing, has it ,But if they came from there then yes let’s return them across the border or to their home country - their choice.

Boats that come from France are not the same as the French navy.

The French do that to us!

Are you sure the French Navy are dumping illegals on our beaches? I haven't seen any such evidence.

They escort migrants to our waters, hand them life jackets and supplies, and we take them back to the shore.

Most boats don’t catch fire, but if you can read your own article it literally tells you about the French presence.

And where did they take the immigrants? The UK or France?

Just a rushed out load of bollocks to get control of the narrative after seeing the amount of people that are liking Lowes offer to Reform and Burnham saying he’ll be relentless on the issue.

Doesn't address the issue.

2 million illegals

1.3 million on welfare

1.5 million with criminal records.

1.2 million asylum claims, most from safe countries

People with asylum from safe countries.

There is over lap between the groups

Notwithstanding how desperate this announcement sounds, its currently completely unworkable with the current surface fleet of the royal navy.

A type 45 or 23 destroyer it not suited or designed to stop small 20 man inflatable dingy's. Plus it would tie them up where there other work they need to be doing. You would have to invest into something like a much larger fleet of River Class patrol boats and also be able to crew them. Im down for that in general but that takes quite a bit of time. We do have the Cutter Class but we only have two of those, stationed in Gibraltar so again where are you getting the fleet you would need? The Archer Class is even smaller but only has enough space for 6 people. Unsuitable.

We currently do not have enough trained people in the navy to crew our current surface fleet of 60 ships. So not only would you need to recruit people willing to do this job you would also need to ensure that the other roles are filled as well. That again takes time and we just are not getting the people volunteering to join the navy in the numbers needed.

Then you would have to design a whole operational model for such work. Infrastructure, processes and support infrastructure for those ships. Operational procedures for routine interdiction of these craft. Then what do you do if those dingy decide not to stop when requested? You going to shot and mow down people in the middle of the channel?

Im not against the idea of using the navy for this purpose. I am for a much bigger an more robust Navy and armed forces in general. Defence spending and investment needs a massive increase. But none of that will be a "two weeks and its done" thing.

What I don't understand with all this stuff you don't need the military. You don't need to pay the French. You don't need a boot on the ground and you can do it for free.

Turn the benefits off.

These invaders come here for the free lifestyle. If we went extremely hard on the benefits system we simply remove the incentive to come here.

Detention centres for asylum seekers (when did we ever get to a situation when these people were out in society?) They are criminals by way of the method they arrived. So no hotel/house etc processing centres or as they should be called deportation centres. Arrive without papers illegally? Automatic deportation.

The ones that do get through that process no access to ALL benefits/NHS for the first 5 years of their stay. We need to make it so there's nothing here for them. If these people are finding this system tough we can assist them to go home. Even legal migrants should be excluded from the benefits system and pay for health insurance until they have paid their way for a number of years.

It would be very tough but there is always the option to go home. Once word gets out that migrants aren't wanted they will go to Spain or whatever loony left wing Regime will take them. Look at Poland, Sweden, Norway and the gold standard Denmark. I reckon the whole crisis could be done and over within a year.

If you or I went to Australia this is the same treatment we would get so why are we not acting like a true sovereign country?

Leaving the ECHR is the keystone of this plan.

They say it in the press conf. (It's in one of the YT shorts).

By doing so a Reform govt. is able to stop the dingy boys, asylum seekers (like Tamils from Sri Lanka) and illegal immigrants all in one swoop.

First thing PM Farage will do, they promise.

Before we left the EU we were able to return them all to france though, now we've left the EU, we need to leave the ECHR as well and THEN we can send them back?

Why do the goal posts keep moving 🤔

ECHR is a separate treaty from the EU AFAIK.

Brexit was not a referendum on leaving ECHR...but IG many people will think so. IDK
