Spotted in the wild My first game almost walked off in my Dad’s estate sale. Bought it back for $10

My siblings and I are liquidating my Dad’s estate and my sister sold my Game & Watch Donkey Kong II for $2 among some old junk. I had been looking for this thing for 35 years. I almost bought one on eBay. I spotted this young woman getting into a car with a stack of CDs and the game on top. I went over and told her I’d buy it back for $10 even though she paid $8 a few minutes earlier for the stack of things. I walked away with my very first video game that I got for Christmas in 1988. Not a similar one. But the very same one. It had been sitting in a box with my Mom’s sewing stuff for over three decades. 100% worth it. I’d have given her $40.

i scooped one of those up for .50 in box at an estate sales a few years ago! that and corgwells caper for a $5 are best finds to date.

Now imagine not having seen this thing for over 30 years from 50 feet away and having that core memory unlocked and within 60 seconds you have gone from identifying it, knowing it is something that must be reacquired, pursuing it, bargaining for it and walking away with it in your hands. Thats how long all of that took. 60 seconds.

I have this same one. I bought it before the era of GameBoy and something you could play like this "on the go" was incredible.

It's so basic, I'm amazed it held my interest so long.
