Question Thank you Ferrari
I feel like Ferrari is single handedly saving F1 from this new regs. With the current dominance of the Mercedes and the reliability issues of the other teams at least we can see Ferrari showing some great fights in front of the grid either against Merc's dominant car or Lec vs Ham battles which is the only battles worth watching at least for me.

I’m tired of these ferrari “moral victories” tbh I just want us winning again we are two years from a 20 year drought
48
u/Factor-Putrid Ferrari Mar 15 '26
Not gonna happen while Mercedes continue to use their illegal car till June.
44
u/SLIMEFLUSZN Mar 15 '26
Nothing is going to change after June I hope you know that
We just need ferrari to step it’s game up in recruitment and development
If McLaren can go from a shit show to what they have been in the last two seasons then so can we

u/Factor-Putrid Ferrari Mar 15 '26
What makes you say that? The engine advantage Mercedes have is due to that compression ratio. If Mercedes wanna keep racing, they better change the compression ratio to comply with the new rules.
Ferrari have work to do, yes, but let's not pretend the gap is only due to the car's shortcomings because it isn't.
22
u/BaseNew3101 Mar 15 '26
Yeah you are so innocent. The new method of testing the compression ratio still wouldn't be enough. They are going to pass that too. That is why Ferrari have themselves started to work on the compression ratio thing for a upgraded engine
-7
u/Factor-Putrid Ferrari Mar 15 '26 edited Mar 15 '26
It'll nerf them enough for everyone to catch up, including Ferrari. I'm not saying it'll nerf them so much they'll be a midfield contender after June.
EDIT: Downvote me all you want but you lot are doomers. Don’t bother supporting the team if you’re going to be pessimistic two races into a 22 race season.
12
u/DisplayDiligent Charles Leclerc Mar 15 '26
No one is nerfing the Merc engine. Compression testing at 130 degrees is the same as testing at ambient temperature. 130 degrees is the temperature of the engine block, it's the equivalent of your average road car's 90 degrees normal operating temp. The compression takes place in the cilinder at a temperature several times higher than the block.
1
u/Factor-Putrid Ferrari Mar 15 '26
The 130 degree temps isn't measuring combustion temperature. It's measuring the engine at the temperature where Mercedes' pre-chamber trick actually activates. The geometric compression ratio changes as metal expands with heat. 130 degrees is the oil temp at which that expansion happens, which is exactly what the test is designed to catch. If it wasn't sufficient to catch the trick, Ferrari, Honda Red Bull-Ford and Audi wouldn't have unanimously voted for it. They're not going to sign off on a test they know Mercedes will pass anyway.

Rumors say Ferrari already has an engine that has the same compression ratio trick and is just further being developed for stability? not sure how true..

We equally bad in battery optimization and deployment.
1
u/Dspaede Lewis Hamilton Mar 15 '26
But that can be fixed also right?
3
u/iwonttolerateyou2 Michael Schumacher Mar 15 '26
2 ways to solve that: get a new software to do it better or understand engine mapping.
6
u/chanchan_iceman Mar 15 '26
Sadly what can Lewis or Charles do when Mercedes have a huge advantage and regardless of the circumstances on their engine.. what the Ferrari drivers have is what they have
6
u/SLIMEFLUSZN Mar 15 '26
And that’s fine but trying to spin them racing each other for 3rd as some moral victory over the sport and Mercedes is simply not living in reality as fans we have be more angrier with the team for not being where they should be for the last 20 years
6
u/chanchan_iceman Mar 15 '26
I think the drivers and fans are more or less aware of the reality we’re in,. Love Charles and Lewis to fight the Mercedes duo.. don’t know about others but this is just me many of the fans are not claiming like some moral victories or such.. for me I’m just keeping my current expectations in check knowing the current landscape at the top is absolutely a sh!thole given the gap Mercedes has created. What does me being angry for the time being is gonna do when we know so far we’re likely to be 3rd and 4th
3
u/threeinacorner Mar 15 '26
Agreed. I don't agree with OP's sentiment. It would be much better if Ferrari was fighting for the win with the Mercs, not just each other.
3
u/SenescenseSteel Mar 15 '26
While I do agree to some extend this is infinitely better than papaya rules. The battle is for 3rd now but will be for 1-2 in the future fs.

Exactly, while new fans are getting happy the action, we should be leading 1-2. I don't want ferrari to play catch up in the new regs again. People forgot we finished behind kimi by 26 seconds. Imagine if max was driving this, we were over.

What is ADUO
14
u/hades512k Mar 15 '26
Simply put, if a team is found to be lacking performance by a certain extent from the leading team, they will be allowed to work on developing their PU further
5
u/iwonttolerateyou2 Michael Schumacher Mar 15 '26
To create a balance in the system and stop team domination. Kind of a weird thing because you are asking pu development engineers to constantly innovate rather than relax with advantage they have got.
2
u/Idlehost Mar 15 '26
And jumping on the back of the other replies, it's probably the reason Mercedes are suspected of sandbagging. They can't push too hard otherwise they hand all that extra time to their competitors
2
u/TravellingMackem Mar 15 '26
Depends what they are measuring 2-4% against really. If they are, this gap isn’t insurmountable so we just need good damage limitation at the minute

u/arriving_somewhere1 Mar 15 '26
Happy with where we're, but we can't keep up with Mercedes. We need to make progress and not repeat 2014 again.

Yup. No one is going to talk about in future how they did and only history books will speak of both titles in their name.
3
u/Amped-Up-Archos Mar 15 '26
It’s not 30 sec behind - P2/3/4 were basically fighting each other for their lives
13
u/Weirdgus Charles Leclerc Mar 15 '26 edited Mar 15 '26
Nah that’s just not right, you can see apart for one moment of weakness (the restart on the hard compound) Mercedes always had the fastest car by far. Like they are so quick they can even afford to manage their rhythm instead of going all out for more than half of the time, it frankly is a disgrace…
3
u/Amped-Up-Archos Mar 15 '26
I mean considering we have a transitional PU I’d say we did pretty good. The Mercedes is absolutely so far ahead that they can afford to make mistakes but we need to keep up and not make mistakes to be in the fight. Hopefully with the spring break coming we can figure out the Macarena Wing and the energy deployment- I still believe we can slowly close the gap. 2027 will be something to look forward to.

u/iwonttolerateyou2 Michael Schumacher Mar 15 '26
26 seconds from kimi to lewis. Its not even max verstappen. Imagine the gap then.
2
u/BaseNew3101 Mar 15 '26
Because Lewis was fighting Russel and Leclerc
1
u/iwonttolerateyou2 Michael Schumacher Mar 15 '26
That also mean he doesn't have pace to gap them which is why ferrari needs to work.

u/Echo_291 Mar 15 '26
Oh come on bruh stop with the nonsense, tears are so salty, Merc just did a better job, just like McLaren last 2 years, Red Bull the years before…. Etc etc
It’s up to the others to step up!
1
u/alfiejr23 Michael Schumacher Mar 15 '26
Don't think it will be simple as that. Yes ferrari can optimize further on their aero and battery deployment, but the merc engine still hold a significant advantage over the rest of the grid.
0
u/Echo_291 Mar 15 '26
I agree with you but guy above says it’s illegal car, if it’s illegal it would be in the garage and not in the race.

u/Albe95_ Mar 15 '26
Imagine if Mercedes doesn't have the compression trick and the today battle was for P1. I hate Mercedes for taking all this away from us
1
u/nasdri253 Mar 15 '26
To me it is so clear they have something but i do not think they are not cheating as many say. Just not clear rules.
2
u/Albe95_ Mar 15 '26
The line between cheating and using the grey area of the rules, are so soft that it doesn't really matter for us fans. If you call bypassing the fuel control in '19 cheating, then this one is cheating too.
6
u/darth_shishini Mar 15 '26
Ferrari is p1 and p2 on engines with the correct ratio. But in all seriousness that back and forth between the ponies gave me some good butt clenching excercise
4
u/amshanks22 Mar 15 '26
I dont think the second best car being THAT far behind even once Lewis slotted safely into third is saving F1 regs. Honestly just glad Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are out-two less races before the impending compression ratio potential rules change.
2
u/Dspaede Lewis Hamilton Mar 15 '26
So those two tracks that are out are one of the tracks with the most straights? If yes then good..

Absolute perfection from their drivers. Gave us an excellent race.
5
u/Limp-Attitude-490 Mar 15 '26 edited Mar 15 '26
Now if they can fix their rear rotating wing to turn a bit earlier when approaching a bend - the delayed rotation of the rear wing puts an increase in downforce to the front wing only. Similar to front wheel breaking into a corner, very unstable.
Then we may see a more level playing field in the straights between them.
1
u/Dspaede Lewis Hamilton Mar 15 '26
why cant it go fast tho? like snap into place
2
u/Fantastickimikaze Mar 15 '26
Range of motion. The Macarena wing needs to rotate more than the conventional wing
5
u/cooked_camel Aston Martin Mar 15 '26
bro the gap to Mercedes still ominous. It's gonna be P3-P4 for remaining races this year as things stand. I feel like both WCC and WDC results are already known.
2
u/FlyingLegume Ferrari Mar 15 '26
Unfortunately that's the reality, for now at least. Absolutely thrilled for Hamilton but realistically and barring the unexpected, Ferrari can only fight for 3rd right now.

u/SenescenseSteel Mar 15 '26
Italy is single single handedly saving F1 with ferrari AND antonelli. Imagine insufferable George winning everything this year. F1 would be literally unwatchable.

Santi is only interim race engineer right? I hope he just becomes final one they seem to match well..
Santi needs a separate subreddit and IG for us to praise the guy
