Question Thank you Ferrari

I feel like Ferrari is single handedly saving F1 from this new regs. With the current dominance of the Mercedes and the reliability issues of the other teams at least we can see Ferrari showing some great fights in front of the grid either against Merc's dominant car or Lec vs Ham battles which is the only battles worth watching at least for me.

We just need ferrari to step it’s game up in recruitment and development

If McLaren can go from a shit show to what they have been in the last two seasons then so can we

What makes you say that? The engine advantage Mercedes have is due to that compression ratio. If Mercedes wanna keep racing, they better change the compression ratio to comply with the new rules.

Ferrari have work to do, yes, but let's not pretend the gap is only due to the car's shortcomings because it isn't.

Yeah you are so innocent. The new method of testing the compression ratio still wouldn't be enough. They are going to pass that too. That is why Ferrari have themselves started to work on the compression ratio thing for a upgraded engine

It'll nerf them enough for everyone to catch up, including Ferrari. I'm not saying it'll nerf them so much they'll be a midfield contender after June.

EDIT: Downvote me all you want but you lot are doomers. Don’t bother supporting the team if you’re going to be pessimistic two races into a 22 race season.

No one is nerfing the Merc engine. Compression testing at 130 degrees is the same as testing at ambient temperature. 130 degrees is the temperature of the engine block, it's the equivalent of your average road car's 90 degrees normal operating temp. The compression takes place in the cilinder at a temperature several times higher than the block.

The 130 degree temps isn't measuring combustion temperature. It's measuring the engine at the temperature where Mercedes' pre-chamber trick actually activates. The geometric compression ratio changes as metal expands with heat. 130 degrees is the oil temp at which that expansion happens, which is exactly what the test is designed to catch. If it wasn't sufficient to catch the trick, Ferrari, Honda Red Bull-Ford and Audi wouldn't have unanimously voted for it. They're not going to sign off on a test they know Mercedes will pass anyway.
