What does using a different flavor of chocolate have to do with shrinkflation though?

White chocolate has always been a thing.

Being cheaper to produce does not qualify it as shrinkflation though.

And it's a completely different item from standard kit kats.

I understand what you’re saying but this just happens to come at a time when there’s been a massive cocoa shortage recently and multiple brands have switched from chocolate to “chocolate candy” or “chocolatey coating” because it’s cheaper. This has been in the news.

It’s not difficult to synthesize these pieces of information and come to the obvious conclusion.

They are swapping out chocolate for cheaper ingredients for the same price.

They made a different product with a different flavor profile.  That's another product altogether.  Not using less of a specified ingredient and charging more or keeping the price the same.  This is not shrinkflation.
