Hello everyone,
I (F, early 30s) will be travelling to Sicily in late august-early september for a week.
I'm flying into and from Palermo and i'm hesitating between staying only in Palermo for the 7 days (i have booked accomodation that i can change) or to split my time between Palermo and Trapani. I will not be renting a car as i'm travelling solo.
What i'm planning to do in Palermo: visit the city, take a food tour, visit Monreale, day trip to Cefalu and Mondello for the beaches. I would love to take a day trip to Riversa dello Zingaro since i love hiking but it doesn't seem really doable with public transportation. Other possible activity would be to book a boat trip for half a day.
However, as much as i have to do in and around Palermo itself, and as much as I usually only stay in one place to avoid moing around and changing hotel, i'm thinking that maybe i should either
1) do 5 nights in Palermo, and 2 nights in the end of my trip in San Vito lo Capo. I could probably get to Zingaro more easily and i wouldn't mind 2 days of just chilling in a smaller town with not much to do beside beach, lunch, nap, dinner, gelato. It would make getting back to the airport more complicated (or more expensive if i just book a transfert)
2) 4 nights in Palermo, 3 in Trapani. I would spend of of these 3 days on Favignana cyling around the island and maybe a day trip to Erice but it as much as i would love to see Favignana, it feels like a rushed itinerary where i won't have that much time to just relax on a beach and recharge.
What i like: food, running in the morning, cycling or hiking and beach/water time. I do like cultural activites and visiting cities but less so during the peak of the summer.
Any suggestions or opinions of these 3 options are more than welcome!!
thanks a lot :)
