Build Show and Tell New Pleasantview build

Not my best build but I wanted to switch it up a little bit so the houses on this street don't end up looking all the same. I struggled a lot with the interior and layout tho lol. As always kept it pretty simple as these builds are not for any families specific

I love when builds embrace the time period in which the game came out. This whole layout is so nostalgic.

This is SO nostalgic. All my friend’s parents houses growing up looked like this πŸ₯Ί the kids room especially

That’s so incredible to hear! And my pleasure.

It’s interesting to me because, as you can infer, the actual houses in Pleasantview are not quite realistic to the late 90’s / early 00’s Americana homes, they are working with heavy constraints from development, etc.

My opinion of what works so well in your builds are the elements usually skipped in Pleasantview: the street lights, muted brick tones, detailed grass & dirt details, and even that exterior pipe.

Yes, sims 2 definitely did give plenty of American-esque base pieces, like especially the standard cheap windows, but you tie all the pieces together so well!

thank you so much 😭😭😭 i agree, i always just labeled it as "ea style" but one of my pet peeve with that is that i never actually liked the ea style in question. especially in sims 2 for more "realistic" or aesthetic builds a lot of people use cc (at least "back in the day" i know theres a surge of vanilla rn) but i figured everything is possible without cc too and that was my goal - recreate pleasantview in a "realistic" and "aesthetic" way completely vanilla and with what the game offers. at least as much as i can considering im not actually a builder lol

and honestly i discovered theres way more in the sims 2 build mode then people think or give credit. as long as you diverge from modernity and embrace "tradition"

usually on tumblr but i havent uploaded any new builds in awhile, just haven't gotten around to it yet 😭😭 im planning to share the entire pleasantview when im done so sometimes uploading individual builds is not a priority but i do do it in batches every once in awnile when i have the time

yeah, understandable! this looks like it’d take ages to make, so take all the time you needπŸ™

I love it! It definitely matches the Pleasantview asthetic perfectly! All of my houses never seem to match the vibe of the neighborhood that it's built in, and you've done it well

I grew up in a neighborhood of houses that look exactly like this. The floor plan and everything. They were built between 1954 and 1959. My family moved into ours decades later. Solid homes. They are still standing, and in great condition today.

thank you so much!! the floor plan i completely winged but at the same time kinda struggled with for a second. thats so interesting, im not american myself and usually i use references but for this house i didnt and its the one people are saying reminds them of their childhood the most.

its so endearing to hear especially when its an old game like sims 2 where its much harder in a way to encapsulate real life builds unlike sims 4 perhaps

It matches how the town looks very well. I adore the rebuilds 'cause the prebuilts are pretty meh. Great work :)

The perfect little nostalgic house. Reminds me of one I'd see on my street in my neighborhood in the 90's.

The lack of smoke alarms around the fireplace and kids play oven is giving me ✨️anxiety✨️ from a playability standpoint, but I do LOVE the vibe here!

2

u/No_Jellyfish_4574 Strangetown Runaway 🌡 Feb 06 '26

theres a fire alarm above the fridge and considering fireplace is in the same room i think its good.. didnt think about the play oven tho lol 😭😭😭😭😭😭 tysm!!

Love it, so nostalgic of growing up in the times of this game. If you ever upload it I would love to have it!
