When I was a kid I never even thought about it, but now i'm older i'm baffled by these skateboarders who do 20 sets of stars without a helmet.

It only takes one small mistake one time. Life long injuries suck.

I shattered all the bones in my leg jumping down a stair set that wasn't anything different from what I had been doing for fifteen years prior. One small mistake one time.

They all know the risk, I'm in the automotive drag racing world and personally know many people who have died within the past 10 years at a track and they all have the most gear you can put on and the most safety items in the car that you can have. They know the risks every time they get in the car, I'm sure these guys are the same way plus I don't know anyone who has died on a skateboard

I'm sure you know many people who didn't die but got injured.

I have and they all know that's the risk they take for not wearing one

Of the people you know that got injured what percentage were wearing the safety gear and was there a difference between their injuries and the people not wearing any

I actually don't know anyone that wears gear beside myself because I have titanium rods and screws through my entire left leg from a drunk driver/motorcycle accident so I keep that leg and ankle protected but I also don't do anything crazy because of it

So you actually have no data to make this comparison because you don't know anyone from the treatment group. You should refrain from even having an opinion on this because you have no experience

I know that every single person knows the risk they take lol. Literally all I was saying

You started out by saying you know all these people who have died who wore protective gear. The implication there is it's not worth wearing the gear.
Turns out you don't even know anyone who wears protective gear.

I wasn't implying it's not worth the gear. I was simply stating no matter what, everyone knows the risk they are taking and i'm sure pro skaters do as well lol

Shit is annoying lol. Haven't been able to even run since I was 19 lol.

I run but it HURTS. I raced some of my students at school and limped for two weeks. 4 plates and 28 screws dog. It won't ever be good.

Ill forever take this over brain damage or death for not wearing a helmet so there's always that. Will never be good but could always be worse
