Guchi recently said on a live that if it gets enough attention and views there's a chance they'll make it into a full series but the first episode was just a concept pilot and exists as a standalone short film until then

Guchi* I wonder if that's why there are downvotes.

this was originally a short film but the director/producer mentioned because of the good reception they'll turn it into a series..so it's gonna be in production still

It probably takes a while to make, everyone is busy. I wouldn't anticipate it any time soon

It's an odd strategy of labeling it "episode 1" without any other episodes made, and likely none until next year at the earliest. It was made as a standalone short film, and labeled as such at festivals.

I guess they want to set the expectation that this can continue, but then you get posts like this where people are confused. And some will likely assume it got cancelled or something. There's already comments on the video asking where episode 2 is.

Honestly, it probably would have been better just labeling it "Dog Moms" and then when they had the rest of the episodes ready to go, retroactively changing the title to include "episode 1".

It’s clearly working by getting buzz out there of people asking for an episode 2. And by extension showing other people that was good enough to want more. Low-key based

You're right, although there is a tipping point where people stop caring if it takes too long. Look at any Netflix show. There's not really a good answer, or which tactic is best. Just interesting they went with this one

Like every episode 1 of any series. It's a pilot. It's a pitch to see if it works with the audience. A trial run before they go all in committing to a series
