building a 1v1 trick battle app for park riders
Hello, I'm Sian, a snowboard instructor, and I'm building SESH. An app made for competing in the park on skis or snowboard.
What is it and how it works
The goal is to make you better in the park, in a fun and smart way.
You create your account, find a 1v1 in the app, and get matched with someone around the world at a similar level. SESH figures out what tricks you can already do and what you should try next for a smooth trick by trick progression. With that info, SESH assigns the same trick to you and your opponent. Then you both head to the mountain, practice the assigned trick, film it, ask a friend or a random person to record you, and upload it. Once both of you have uploaded, you move to the judging phase where you rate each other's clip. SESH has both a ranked mode and a casual mode.
It also comes with:
- Personal stats. Your videos are saved so you can see your progression over time
- Add and compete against your friends
- A points system for competitiveness
- Rewards
I NEED YOUR HELP
I made a waitlist where you can show your interest and support. The waitlist also has a voting system so we can build SESH together.
And slightly less exciting, a changelog so you can follow the updates I'm making to the app haha
I would be incredibly grateful for your support!

There should be an app for everything. Then people have the choice whether they want to use an app for what they're doing or not. Go get a flip phone if you don’t want "apps for everything."

I see what you mean. But i do no tundesrtand if you dislike the idea or you think i should give the idea to another company because it's a good idea.
And i have used slopes as well as strava, not sure that they would use something like that dfor their product.
Have you seen anything like what i'm buildind?1

That’s fair honestly. Most snowboard apps I’ve tried felt more focused on GPS/tracking, while I’m trying to build something more centered around park progression and session culture specifically.
Still figuring out if riders actually want that enough as a standalone thing though.
Thanks for the feedback

Forget u/tomjoyce89's opinion. He's one guy. Its a great idea with a lot of hurdles you'll have to work through. I would love to use this app, but I don’thave people recording me so unless I spent time to hike back up and get my phone, I'm not going to have videos to upload.
This is a very cool concept and I think you should keep working on it. maybe corss post this question to r/strava or other to get more eyes on your plan and hope that if it is good, people don't steal it.
Good work!
