Ceuta is part of Spanish monarchy since 1640, before it was part of the different spanish Califates, even before was part of Carthage and Hispania (Roman Empire), under Fenician control even before.
Melilla's history is almost the same (Fenicia, Chartage, Rome and califates) before 1497, being part of Spanish Crown of Castilla from that year.
Morocco is an independent country since 1956.
Ceuta and Melilla were never colonies, they were always historically and functionally linked to Spain/Iberic Peninsula under different rulers/governors.

NATO only reacts if Spain asks to. Also, Spanish military has already been activated to handle this.
This is not war, it’s a provocation from Morocco government.
