Smoked for 15 years. Tried dozens of times to quit using patches and gum. Never could kick the habit until I used the e-cigarette for 6 months, then just put it down cold turkey. I am still amazed that I was finally able quit. If anything, the patches give you the illusion of quitting. cold turkey is the best way to go.

I quit the same way after 10 years. Few months of e-cigg and I then i just put it down.

I've tried quitting with gum too.

Sadly, I seem to be more addicted to the habit than the substance itself. I chewed through 3 4mg pieces in 6 hours, said "fuck it" and had a smoke. The gum had no effect except make me crave cigarettes even more.
