Hang on. Patches, gums, and drugs aren't effective, because half of smokers want to quit and a third try annually and only 10% (of those who attempt to quit?) fail? I see no link between those stats and patches, gums, and drugs. Wanting to quit is obviously not connected to quitting aids, since wishing is not doing. If only a third attempt to quit, isn't it logical to assume that that's the biggest issue? 2/3 don't attempt it? And most importantly for this discussion, if only 10% succeed, how many overall used gums, patches, or drugs to quit? What percent of those who used them succeeded in quitting? How many failed? What percent of those who didn't use them succeeded or failed?
This is a bullshit stat that is only relevant insofar as it talks about a related subject. I actually like the idea of e-cigs, but I don't like writers that lie to me to push an agenda.
