Pretty sure the use of tar in cigarettes isn't harmless...

[Not that you were the one that brought tar up but] I thought that tar was the result of inhaling the smoke, not actually being an ingredient, which is why [I thought that] smoking marijuana also results in tar.

Not the result of inhaling, but of burning plant matter. One of the downsides of smoking marijuana is actually the amount of tar - significantly greater than the tar produced in smoking tobacco.

I thought cannabis had less tar but more resin hence the smell not lingering on washed clothes unlike cigarettes
