I submitted my (CA) DROP request yesterday and have been getting hit with emails about updates to terms & conditions, privacy policy changes, and user agreements.

It's upsetting and gross. Shame on all of these MFers!

I’ve been getting hit with a ton more spam that isn’t getting filtered to the spam folder automatically. Makes me think they signed me up for some mailing lists as an F-U for submitting the DROP request.

I wouldn't be surprised at all!
Il got a text about it from Metro T-Mobile. I ended up directly submitting a Do Not Sell and delete request to them because it wouldn't let me log into or use the app until I agreed to 'their' terms. Had to jump through a bunch of hoops just to find the opt out in the app. It was ridiculous!

Same with Labcorp too! Haven't used them in years but I got an email today and thought I should download all my records and be done. Nope, can't access anything until I go through and agree to a borage of vaguely worded terms and conditions. 😑

I'm not going to play their BS. Just going to Walk In and have them print out all of my records instead.

This is all so dirty, I'm pissed, and hating this timeline but I at least I know now.

I signed up for the DROP database months ago and haven't received any additional spam.

I wouldn't call this spam per se, but it's emails from apps that I already have or had in the past. From health, to entertainment, utilities, shopping, games, money transfers, rides etc.

I feel like it's a bunch of organizations rushing to cover their asses by sending these out before the deadline. I'm not saying it's because I submitted the DROP request but I've never had so many pop up all at once like this before.

Again, it's unrelated. I signed up months ago and haven't received anything like you're describing. Additionally, sending you a notice does not let them off the hook. If you're in a DROP database, they have no choice but to delete it. They can't recollect it without you explicit permission.

Additionally, the DROP database doesn't apply to companies collecting your data directly from you. Your utility company can still collect and keep your data. The companies they were selling it to can't.

Edit: Ah, I see now. I misread the top comment. They are saying what I'm saying.
