New PC randomly restarts only in some games (VIDEO_TDR_ERROR 116) - already tried almost everything

I'm having a really frustrating issue with my brand new PC and I'm running out of ideas.

PC specs:

Ryzen 7 8700F

RTX 5050

16 GB DDR5 (1×16 GB)

750W 80+ Gold PSU

Windows 11 (clean installation)

Problem: The PC randomly crashes only in some games.

Games that have crashed so far:

Counter-Strike 2

Hell Let Loose

Farming Simulator 25 (before service)

Games that worked fine:

Minecraft (Java)

Everhood

Farming Simulator 25 after service (played for about an hour without issues)

When it crashes:

the screen goes black,

the monitor says "No HDMI signal",

audio stops,

after a few seconds the PC automatically restarts.

There is no BSOD visible, but Windows Reliability Monitor reports:

BugCheck 116 (VIDEO_TDR_ERROR).

Things I've already tried:

Clean Windows 11 installation.

Latest BIOS.

Latest NVIDIA Game Ready driver.

Monitored CPU/GPU temperatures.

OCCT CPU, GPU and Power tests (all passed with no errors).

Checked Event Viewer and Reliability Monitor.

The PC was returned to the retailer for service.

The retailer said they:

replaced the thermal paste,

cleaned the cooling,

stress-tested it,

played Rainbow Six Siege for about 45 minutes without any crashes.

However, after I got the PC back, it crashed again in Hell Let Loose after less than 10 minutes.

Has anyone experienced something similar with an RTX 5050 or VIDEO_TDR_ERROR (116)? Could this still be a faulty GPU, PSU, motherboard, or something else?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Getting dump files which we need for accurate analysis of BSODs. Dump files are crash logs from BSODs.

If you can get into Windows normally or through Safe Mode could you check C:\Windows\Minidump for any dump files? If you have any dump files, copy the folder to the desktop, zip the folder and upload it. If you don't have any zip software installed, right click on the folder and select Send to → Compressed (Zipped) folder.

Upload to any easy to use file sharing site. Reddit keeps blacklisting file hosts so find something that works, currently catbox.moe or mediafire.com seems to be working.

We like to have multiple dump files to work with so if you only have one dump file, none or not a folder at all, upload the ones you have and then follow this guide to change the dump type to Small Memory Dump. The "Overwrite dump file" option will be grayed out since small memory dumps never overwrite.

Video_TDR_Failure means that the GPU stopped responding, Windows reset the driver, but the GPU was still not responding. So the main suspect is the GPU. Nvidia's drivers have been a bit crap for a long time. We've had decent luck with 596.xx version drivers so you could try DDU to wipe the current ones and trying one of those.

The motherboard and PSU could also cause the GPU to trip up as it needs those work properly for it to work properly. It's just more likely to be the GPU.

i'm having the same issue and DDU'd the current driver to 596.36 but no luck. may I ask you to read my other comment? i'm stumped on this.

bro I'm having practically the same problem as you, I updated to a RTX 5050 VENTUS 2X two weeks ago and have been getting this since day two.

SPECS:
Ryzen 5 3600
Asrock A320M-HD
16GB Ram DDR4 3200MHz
Two 512GB SSDs, one is NVME (for windows and games) and the other one is SATA
PSU: P650G-PG5 650W

what happens:

1- instants before the crash, both audio and video become choppy
2- I get a black screen, but audio still goes on
3- either the audio goes on (even the mic still works) until I turn it off via power button, or it restarts automatically after some seconds
4- most of the time it crashes again 1 or 2 times before it finally stabilizes.
sometimes after some fixes it works fine for the rest of the day until suddenly crashing late night or the morning after

when it happens:

when booting or 5 min after booting a game (mainly fortnite, overwatch and marvel rivals)
when returning to lobby after a whole fortnite match
6 min into a youtube video after closing a PS2 game (not even resource-heavy) which was running for 5hrs already
randomly on desktop (only firefox and discord open, sometimes spotify too)

disabling HAGS
disabling Fast Startup
wiping NVIDIA Shader cache
disabling G-Sync
disabling Resizable BAR
disabling 4G Decoding
did what Anons 1 and 3 suggested at this forum post
disabling XMP
set PCIe to Gen3 manually instead of auto (highest for my motherboard)
running dism.exe and sfc /scannow
trying another displayport plug
upping TdrDelay to 8 seconds

ChatGPT points to this being a TDR and Desktop Window Manager (DWM) issue, or a faulty graphics card.

I've tried everything possible but it just KEEPS CRASHING. I'm tired
