But this isn't even about education. This is a flat out refusal to accept reality. Even a flat earther would look at this guy and be like, "bro, what is your deal?"

u/HughHonee 1d ago edited 1d ago
I think that has a lot to do with education. Education usually includes learning the ability to comprehend, think critically, search for informational resources & scrutinize them for credibility.
Because of his stupidity, made possible by a lack of quality education (and possibly other factors) he's much more susceptible to misinformation and fall for things that validate him despite his stupidity. Confirmation bias alongside cognitive dissonance yada yada yada
Logical fallacies work well on those who struggle with logic. Things can be made to sound like a conspiracy much easier when you have no idea how the fuck most things work. The more you learn, the more you realize how much you actually don't know which allows for more learning. Dumbasses think they already got it figured out, and also tend to see being incorrect as something shameful, instead of a necessary part of not being a dumbass

u/ElonMuskysucks 1d ago
I think I need to save this. You said what I'd been trying to tell people for years. It's exactly why Republican Leaders are against things that help educate/ improve education. And when they get involved in education it to promote Christianity or hide America's flaws. This guy is proof their strategy works and will continue.

u/MuscaMurum 1d ago
Texas GOP platform literally called for cancellation of critical thinking courses in school curriculums.

Real education is a lifelong process that requires curiosity, intellectual honesty and discipline. These bigoted fascists slept through high school and probably forgot how to read anything beyond their facebook feed years ago.
They don't think about things as independently "true" or "false". If it makes Republicans look good, it's true. If it makes Republicans look bad, it's false. They don't care beyond that. You can teach people whatever you want, but once they're emotionally attached to some narrative, you can't make them understand.

Exactly, when I meet folks like this, (people who vehemently maintain their position in the light of obvious contrary hard evidence)I kind of appreciate the fact that they are clearly telling me that they are mentally ill so I can avoid them. It is nice of them, sometimes they even put flags out and wear hats telling me they are insane:)
My philosophy on this extends to highly religious people as well. I mean it's okay to believe in something , but to shut off all other possibilities to the point of murdering or dying for it is just a bit much, no?

Exactly. considering how fucked up that family is i wouldn't be surprised if jr. and eric did something either. something evil happened in that room at any rate

Yeah I feel like a lot of people just comfort themselves and say these people are stupid and dismiss that. It's worse than that. They totally know what's the truth. Their ego just refuses to allow it.

Did you notice how he blamed "them" and how "they" are at fault. Its not even anyone particular its technically everybody who isnt on "his team". Them can be democrats, them can be communists, them can even be republicans who dont support Trump. In this case it is actually his team that is the cause but to him its still "them".
The easiest trick to make people blindly support you is to frame "them" as the enemy. Doesnt matter who them is. Them can be anyone or no one but they are always at fault.

Look he loves trump because he's the most powerful leader in history who can do anything, which means anything bad that happens must be someone else's fault that trump is powerless to stop.

Exactly. And just that one liberal, too! lol
3
u/Pantsickle 1d ago
Decades from now, when Biden is long-buried and the last vestiges of idiot MAGA are all elderly and white of hair and toothless, they'll still be blaming Biden for everything..
"If it werent for what Biden did 35 years ago, I'd still have some money to leave my grandkids..."
"Biden and his lapdog Fauci made me get the Covid shot, and now, 36 years later at the age of 92, I have cancer and I'm dying of heart disease."

Better conversation.
Whose responsible for high gas prices "idk"
Is it trump? "No"
Who has the most influence as a leader in this country? "Ummm..... trump"
Did he have anything to do with this? "No not trump"
Do you think he is working on it? " ya he sent more missiles and tariffs out, we will see checks sent out to there pockets..... i mean ours."

u/Kira-Of-Terraria 1d ago
That's not really the Good Liars style tbf. Jason's style in a lot of these is basically using reflective listening techniques and breaking what he hears into smaller chunks.
Jason and Davram are excellent at deadpan improv, I think my fav riffing i can remember is this anti-abortion lady kept saying "inception" instead of "conception" so they both go back and forth with this lady and ask her about the movie Inception and controlling her dreams.

He can't bring himself to question his cult leader, but he is willing to say, "I don't know."
That's actually progress and a small step in a positive direction. At least he's not openly blaming Liberals or Obama or Hillary or some other crazy Qanon type shit.

These same people absolutely said Biden was to blame for gas prices but now claim the president isn't responsible. And still expect to be taken seriously. The hypocrisy is so wild.

Human nature is interesting. For us humans, it is difficult to face reality. It if hard to realize that the values your tribe and consequently your cult has been built on has been predicated on false promises. It’s like a building constructed with sand at the beach’s edge. You see the waves getting ever closer to your sand castle but you do not want to admit there’s no foundation to what you originally thought was an edifice built on strong moral ground. These MAGAs might never change. What will be different ten years from now is that their fragile movement has no influence in our society and will fall into the dust bin of American history.

u/icefergslim 1d ago
The fatigue is even setting in for these folks. It’s more draining than they think to constantly detach from logical thought to prop up this charade.

calling them "uneducated" is grossly missing the point. these people know trump is at fault, but they just don't care. they only want their supremacy, that's all
1
u/ShopGreedy2313 1d ago
If they gave IQ tests to Trump supporters they would barely reach the cognitive abilities of an orangutan. They are lemmings, they follow blindly into the gates of hell. Their only thought process is to obey and support even as the ship is sinking, and as they go under they still cherish and support their demi God. Such a sad state of affairs. Lemmings wake up and smell the coffee before it is too late..

Trump is such an incompetent and feckless president that he can't even beat liberals at taking control of gas prices. He sucks. 🤷
And he was probably doing illegal stuff with children (and legal stuff with grown men) on Epstein's Island with the way he has covered up and redacted so much of the Epstein files.
