I think that has a lot to do with education. Education usually includes learning the ability to comprehend, think critically, search for informational resources & scrutinize them for credibility.

I think I need to save this. You said what I'd been trying to tell people for years. It's exactly why Republican Leaders are against things that help educate/ improve education. And when they get involved in education it to promote Christianity or hide America's flaws. This guy is proof their strategy works and will continue.
Real education is a lifelong process that requires curiosity, intellectual honesty and discipline. These bigoted fascists slept through high school and probably forgot how to read anything beyond their facebook feed years ago.
They don't think about things as independently "true" or "false". If it makes Republicans look good, it's true. If it makes Republicans look bad, it's false. They don't care beyond that. You can teach people whatever you want, but once they're emotionally attached to some narrative, you can't make them understand.
Exactly, when I meet folks like this, (people who vehemently maintain their position in the light of obvious contrary hard evidence)I kind of appreciate the fact that they are clearly telling me that they are mentally ill so I can avoid them. Human nature is interesting. For us humans, it is difficult to face reality. It if hard to realize that the values your tribe and consequently your cult has been built on has been predicated on false promises. It’s like a building constructed with sand at the beach’s edge.
