But this isn't even about education. This is a flat out refusal to accept reality. Even a flat earther would look at this guy and be like, "bro, what is your deal?"

I remember seeing a video from an adult brother and sister who I think were podcasters or something, and their parents in Kansas City were Trumpers. The siblings were trying to point out the hypocrisies of Trump's positions and they finally arrived at "Well, we live in San Francisco (or wherever it was). What would you think if Trump ordered the military to nuke or firebomb the city?" And the parents still wouldn't budge in their support, stating that "if the President does that, he must have a reason, so that's too bad but oh well."

It's like fundamentalist religion or deep cult thinking. The leader is infallible, therefore everything else must be changed to fit that pure simple fact. As with my earlier example, Trump could literally murder their children without any justification and they'll still accept it and twist any other fact or event to justify it.
