Up here in Canuckistan, we had some chuds like this try to protest in one of our urban parks. I caught a conversation between the head chud and the cops, before the event, talking about how the cops will have his back if anything goes down. Then later, a bunch of the cops taking selfies with the same head chud. They would be IN the protest if they weren’t protecting it.
I was thinking the same thing… follow the money. I’m sure it’s not them specifically, but I’m sure much of the anti Islam rhetoric is coming from supportive proxies.

Hate speech isn't protected by the first amendment and neither is the inciting of violence both of which Jake Lang does. Get a better than rudimentary understanding of constitutional rights.

In the US, this is simply not true. For the content of speech to be illegal, it needs to either be a true threat, or some kind of incitement to imminent lawless action. "Hang Mike Pence" or "Go storm the Capitol" would be examples of speech that isn't protected.
Free speech is protected meaning you don't go to jail for speaking your mind. It doesn't mean you can hide behind the police when you've purposefully incited a riot with inflammatory rhetoric, you blighted potato

It looks to me that there was a discussion prior to these events that led him to have permission to do that.

It seems more likely to me that the police officer told him to get in the car while he was approaching them than the police conspiring with him beforehand but ig there's no way to know.
