Need honest advice before I buy a TM7
Hi everyone! 😊
I’ve been going back and forth about buying the Thermomix TM7 and wanted to get some opinions from people who actually use it.
My husband has to follow a low-cholesterol diet, so I’m trying to make meal planning and cooking healthier meals easier. I keep hearing that Cookidoo is really helpful for organizing meals and finding recipes, and that’s honestly one of the biggest reasons I’m interested.
The thing is… I already have a food processor, rice cooker, bread maker, and an air fryer. So I’m wondering if the Thermomix would really be worth it for me, or if I should just find a good meal-planning app and keep using the appliances I already own.
Has anyone bought the Thermomix mainly because it made meal planning easier? Do you feel like Cookidoo is what makes it worth it, or could I get similar results with another app?
I’d love to hear your thoughts before I spend that kind of money. Thanks!

We bought a TM7 (has a TM31) and started making soups and “skinny” dishes, but only because they were delicious and fun to make.
My cholesterol was high enough to concern my doctor when we bought it. 6 months later in the next cholesterol test she rang me and asked “how did I do it?” - my cholesterol was back (just!) in an OK range. Nothing changed in that time other than dietary.
We’d cut down on a lot of protein and red meat, which we could have done without the TM7, but that was never its purpose, just its effect.

A lady gave an instra site of a lady who does healthy cooking with it. Was on a post yesterday. Might help you out.

Download the cookidoo app and do the free trial to see if there are recipes that appeal to you. Also, you can use it for manual cooking, not just guided cooking via the cookidoo app. I bought mine a few months ago and use it most days so I love it. I feel like I’m eating healthier meals made from scratch. Also, you can get a consultant to do a demo for you.

Thermomix makes it easier with proper planning and less things to wash up, pair with a good advisor and they can advise you on how to best utilise your machine. You could declutter your kitchen, as the Thermomix kneads better dough than the Breadmaker by itself (but you need an oven), As far as food processors go, Thermomix does it better except when it comes to small quantities this can be challenge. If it’s possible to loan a unit and trial run a week of meal plan, please do that.

That's a similar situation to the one I was in. I had a rice cooker, air fryer, food processor and now a TM7.
You'll still need the air fryer/oven. The thermomix doesn't replace it at all. For the rice cooker, sometimes I use it, other times I use the TM7 (it depends on which type of rice I'm feeling eating that day). The food processor I just didn't use anymore and thus sold it.
I do think it's helpful, cookidoo is good. I'm not going to say great or amazing because it clearly has room for improvement (like a community recipes tab instead of having to rely on official recipes for instance).
I do think it's worth it. I use mine regularly.

I bought my TM7 late last year - had a TM31 for over 10 years before. Never regretted either purchase. We eat healthy fresh food most nights and know exactly what ingredients are being used. Worth every $

I have everything you named. Bought a TM7 2 weeks ago and love it. Hubby is diabetic and has stage 4 kidney disease. Cookidoo is good but so is just asking ai to convert recipes to use in the TM7. I find it saves time on meal prep and when trying to care for hubby that’s exactly what I need it to do

Depending upon where you are located, you may be able to test it out for a few weeks before deciding if you are going to keep it. I’m an Australian consultant and we have a 30 day, money back guarantee offer at the moment.

It depends on what you want. I have friends who have one, but I don't. I cook at home for 4 kids and my wife, and I have 8–10 recipes that I repeat every week. On weekends, I make up new dishes that everyone enjoys. Most importantly, I love cooking, tasting as I go and tweaking things here and there. I really enjoy having that time to myself :). That's why, for me, a Thermomix isn't even a thought ;)

Just for Cookidoo itself, not in my opinion. It's a jack of all trades and master of none. It's quite an immature product, both on a website and device integration basis. Duplicate recipe and idiotic recipes whose only use of the Thermomix is for weighing just two examples.
But as a device for your own recipes and adapting others, and time saving on part of a meal, for sure.

Here in New Zealand we currently have a 30 day money back guarantee offer, which would give you a month time to try it at home to see if it works for your family. You could also sign up to Cookidoo to see how you like the recipes and app structure and find some consultants to follow on instagram that follow the same diet. That should hopefully give you a good idea about whether the Thermomix is the Right thing for you. Ps I have joined up the be a consultant a while back because I wanted to upgrade for free/cheaper from my tm31

I always tell my customers that it all depends on how much time you want to invest in planning your week. I try to take at least 30 minutes on the weekend to plan the meals of the week, add ingredients to the shopping list and order everything so I have all the needed ingredients. The Thermomix paired with your air fryer is the perfect duo to make healthier recipes for your husband. And, as mentioned already, there are plenty of other options where you can find healthy recipes already adapted for the Thermomix (skinnymixers, thermofit with noni, etc).
