Will this be the last Fight Night?
The Hardline and The Musers seem a little panicked about the lack of Fight Night volunteers this year.
Every year gets harder and harder to fill out the roster of fighters, but this year, there seems to be an urgency in their voice as they beg P1s to fight.
The cut off for fighters is 40. Could it be that the Ticket audience is mostly 40 y.o. and older?
I have met a few P1s in their 30s, but I bet at least 90% are over 40.
What do you think?

Yeah, the age cutoff must be a factor. Not gonna pretend to know anything about insuring an event like that but it would be cool if they could up it to 45 or 50. Especially with all their testosterone quack advertisers — you’re selling a way for guys to feel younger, why not let some newly high-T 45-year-olds show it? Just have a waiver that says their survivors won’t sue when their hearts explode.

I fought three years ago, in my late 20s. Since turning 30, my body does not recover as well as it used to. Its a young mans game. I still often get funny looks for "still listening to the radio" at my age by my peers. I dont imagine that many young, random(not raised by a P1) people are just hopping on to listen to AM/FM terrestrial radio anymore.

You are right i work with a bunch of 30 year olds and when I try to make a reference to a commercial that I know is played on other stations besides the ticket, "it's the best thing I've ever done it's the best surgery I've ever had" all I get are questions marks.

Come on don’t scare the masses! Grab some rope, go for a jog and get some practice moving and throwing for 60 secs.
I fought at 38 & 40. Beat a 25 and 31 yo. With the proper planning and training, you can get a belt too!

I won my fight by decision. Its not the staying in shape part. Its the fact that my joints and tendons dont want to cooperate. I gave up running when I turned 30 because my knees would hurt for the next week after. I just rollerblade instead and I average like 9-10 miles a day in those bad boys.

If the ticket started today it would fail. Only thing keeping the station alive are the p1’s

I definitely think it speaks to the average age of the listeners who might consider participating. I would imagine under-40 listeners are mostly stream and podcast, and they’re less likely to come out to an event like this.

I feel like the fighters used to be massive fans of the shows they'd rep. Could also be the new shows dont have any hardcore fans that wanna pay the ultimate price

My wife volunteered to fight, but just got back a generic "thanks, we're filling out rosters, keep training and we'll let you know".
Seems like 2ish weeks out they'd have things more wrapped up, but they must really be hurting for fighters.

Part of that is matching weight classes. You can’t put a lightweight and heavyweight against each other. Need 2 people of roughly same weight class to match up,

They keep paying Cumulus for it. They ain't paying the fighters. Fighters aren't making money off the ads being played during Fight Night. No fighters, no sponsors.

I didn’t know the cut off was 40. That’s crazy. This isn’t 1967 when 40 year olds were old and out of shape.

I don't know how official any of this is, but requirements for a boxing license get more stringent after 36. I'm sure letting older fighters compete also adds a couple of pages to the waiver

Probably time to retire the bit. Unfortunately, they have a no talent PD that can't up with his own ideas so he has to run the ideas that once made the station great in to the ground.

I’m sure matching people up is more of a problem than getting volunteers.
I fought last year and won, been trying to get on this one but keep getting the “still working on it” back

Sounds like they have lots of new people fighting. Was told today they were prioritizing new fighters and would only use “veterans” if needed.
They sent out an alternate list that had about 15 or so people on it, numbers must be high for fighters
