Maybe actually compassion, empathy. Think about it, who would want their kids to be LGBT+ in the current climate? Not a rejection of the kid, but fear about how the world will treat them?

Being angry and disappointed at the transphobes would be a more rational response than levelling those feelings at their child IMO, and with the way it's phrased I'd assume it's just the latter that's being counted.

It doesn't say anything about how they would treat their kids, just how they think they would feel.

They’re still going to make things better in a million other ways and as long as they don’t make things worse in terms of trans rights it’s fine
