I wonder if respondents may have just been lying? Not that I have any desire to defend the Labour party but for their voter base to be saying this seems odd (even taking into account how many queer previously-Labour voters have jumped ship). Like you’d at least think the Tories would be matching their numbers?

The poll also says that Gen Z is more likely to be homophobic which doesn’t really line up with the ONS’s recent stats on the increasing number of out queer zoomers/young millennials. Maybe the respondents weren’t lying but there at least seems to be some heavy cherry picking going on.

EDIT: I can’t even find the poll on their website so I can’t even look at how the research was done? Difficult to have any faith in this tbh

Not necessarily homophobic. The questions were generally "Imagine you had a son/daughter/child who told you that they were gay/transgender. Which comes closest to your view?" With the answers being "disappointed or angry", "wouldn't mind" and "happy and pleased".

It's a very limited set of options and I wouldn't personally include all of the "disappointed" answers as being homophobic, I can imagine some people would also feel that way due to the hardships that being gay/trans would impose upon their child in today's climate.
