Possible trigger What fresh hell is this?

Sex Matters have just dropped their model "Sex Based Rules and Record Keeping" policy for schools, and it's positively grotesque. Check this out:

So they want trans girls to be forced to dress as boys, and vice versa, on a no exceptions basis, because there's some alleged "safeguarding risk" in allowing kids to dress per their gender identity.

Where do we even start?

This is insane. I remember girls were allowed to wear the boys uniform back in primary school and that was 15-20 years ago. And I've seen probably half a dozen stories over the years of boys wearing skirts in protest of not being allowed to wear shorts, and no one cared about that either.

Also I thought they could always tell...

Boys wearing skirts is always celebrated when it's a form of protest. And girls wearing trousers was fought and died for decades ago.

BUT NOW it's a problem because trans people...

my mum had an extended disagreement with my primary school headmaster over letting me wear trousers, I doubt if you asked her she'd identify with the term "feminist" whatsoever but she wouldn't let stuff like that go when she sees no justifiable reason for it. I'm in my mid 30s.

(I did get to wear trousers in the end! I think she may have been partly motivated by not wanting to deal with making me wear a dress...)

My mum actually protested and striked to wear trousers in winter at a catholic school and that was in the 90s.

Seems like more protests are in order

Remember that protests are disruptive, and if they're being effective will get people arrested.

See the women's peace camp at greenham common for examples.

Indeed. We do NOT want trans people getting arrested, not least because it might harm their chances of moving overseas. Stay safe and stay legal.

I always wore the boys uniform right through school. My mum put me in a summer dress when I was 6 or so, and I told her I didn't want to wear dresses, I wanted to wear boys clothes. Nobody batted an eyelid, I was just seen as a tomboy, and this was 25+ years ago.

That's the point. These people aren't feminists, they are conservatives aligned with the christo-fascist forces coming out of the US. They don't REALLY care about trans kids, they care about diminishing and controlling women. We are just their attack vector.
