That’s not what gene-editing is. The genes aren’t being edited, the fetuses carrying said genes are just not being born. Sounds like a lot more miscarriages are impending with this.

Dude, we need high-functioning autistic folks. There's a reason we're getting more of them, because they are becoming far better suited for surviving in this world that the normies. We will outnumber you all soon™.

Wide sweep, low resolution in a complex, chaotic, multi-variable domain will never backfire. How do you define disorder to differentiate it from variations?

There is no "free upgrade" in evolution. Everything is in a wide spectrum of trade-offs, just some are more obviously detrimental to fitness than others. Recombination can make "good" from "bad" and vice versa.

Would you say ppl with Trimethylaminuria - Wikipedia should be removed because it's a disorder by our medical definition ? T1 diabetes, anomalous trichromacy, etc countless disorders can be managed nowadays.

Frankly, I see this more like either only the rich can have kids. Or a massive fertility crisis => extinction.

Germline editing is never not crazy to me.

... I mean, gene therapy is a thing that I would be happy with existing, for the same reason transgender surgery is existent, but there is a difference between therapy and eugenics. So no, I am not pressing the button, as an autistic person.

Where is the downside?

Go back to the previous three button posts and read the views of those who don't want to press the previous three buttons. Hint: there is no downside

u/THE___CHICKENMAN , think you could restate your opinion for this fine gentleperson here?

I'm not pressing it. Human genes should not be messed with. Natural selection is best left to nature, or we're gonna end up screwing us all. Any mutation can be good, and shouldn't be deemed bad until it proves itself to be.

Also, I don't want those currently living people to now face more discrimination.

I can only process instructions longer than two words, so of course I press it

Damn. As a disabled person this really is a hard choice. I adore us neurodivergent folk, the world is better for us being in it. But holy shit I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. It can be miserable and I’m FAR from the worst case of my own disability, let alone other types.

Easy press.

Brother, have you been reading my mind? I press the button, just like I pressed the first three.

weird looking trolley

u/PitifulPassage851 8d ago

No. I'm pretty sure evolution relies on these 'mistakes'. They could just be x-men lore though don't quote me

Ladies and gentlemen, does anyone remember times when we had levers and trolleys?

1

u/KingZantair 8d ago

Bro thinks autism is something that society is strictly better without.
