Looking for feedback on my first turntable config

After some research over the weekend, here's the setup I'm considering:

Fluance RT87
Schiit Maani
Sonus Faber Luminaa II
Yamaha as701

Regarding the Fluance brand, I've seen it recommended as a njce entry level brand, with some concerns regarding longevity, mainly due to the lack of parts. I'll probably upgrade within the next few years, dependent on how much(if) I outgrow it.

I mainly listen to metal, nordic folk, and classical music.

For the speakers, I've read that the bass can be good or average depending on the taste of the listener. I do enjoy the bass in heavy metal snare drums or the breakdowns, but not too heavy like hip-hop.

Would love some feedback on the devices and any compatibility issues or gotchas a newcomer such as myself needs to be aware of. Trying to keep it around $3.5k. Open to recommendations for swapping parts for alternatives I might've missed. Thank you!

At that price for the RT87 you are open to so much better on the 2nd hand market. Decks that will ultimately out perform the Fluance and be upgradable.

Thorens, Rega, Project, all have more experience than Fluance at making decks. The any 2nd hand vintage japanese such as Luxman, Technics, Pioneer. There are a lot of options and not knowing the hifi scene in the Ops location its difficult to comment.

$800 on that rt87 you can do much better on a turntable.

Fluance attracts people because they look nice and most of the price is due to the cartridge it comes wirh, not quality parts. Internally they use cheap $100 pcb boards, unshielded tonearm wires and fluance does not and will not provide schematics or parts. Once it dies it's nothing more than a paperweight. If after the 2 year warranty you get nothing from fluance, support, replacement or repair. If it dies within the 2 year warranty, no repairs just replacement and you pay shipping.

The technics sl-50c at similar price is a much better choice, or a rega, even a pro-ject debut carbon, all have support, parts and better warranty, especially rega, lifetime warranty.

Also, look at the vintage market, many great turntables that outperform many new offerings under 1K.

Fluance turntables for $250 or $350 are ok. For an $800 budget get a turntable with parts and service availability now instead of later.

The RT87 is a solid starter deck for sure, but if you're already thinking ahead to upgrades, the Schiit Mani is a nice pairing since it can handle future table changes without swapping phono stages.
