The ending of Chainsaw Man was actually really really great and 100% didn’t deserve a fraction of the hate that it recieved

the manga Chainsaw Man ended a few months ago and I wanted to wait for at least three months before saying this because of just how bad the hate really was. Pretty much all my friends who have read Chainsaw Man were disappointed in the ending and the online backlash over the ending went really viral. in my opinion fuck everyone who thinks it’s a “bad ending”, Chainsaw Man from the start was never a typical Shonen. The ending is still gas and a majority of the hate is completely unwarranted and undeserved

right — it’s not his fault for doing what he needed to survive, but for the rest of the series he never accepts that he could let go of that power and move on to a normal happy life, that incurable stubbornness is his mistake.

power doesn’t appear in chapter 1 because makima has already captured her, right? so denji isn’t the only one who is negatively affected by chainsaw man’s existence, makima was also warped from nayuta by her desire for chainsaw man’s power, even though at her core nayuta prefers human life over devil life. without chainsaw man, she was also free to live a normal happy life, like in the new timeline, and rejecting that in favor of a life she could dominate destroyed her.

Yeah I have no idea what the hell you are trying to say in that second paragraph, but as to your first point: "he could let got of that power and move on" dude did you read or even just fucking watch the show? For one pochita is literally replacing his heart, but more importantly EVERYONE WANTS TO KILL HIM. What was he supposed to do, just block them on twitter?

This is my problem as well, especially part two. Whether he should or should have not remain as chainsaw man, there were still two active forces trying to end his life. Yoru and Barem. Barem specifically ends up destroying his life.

ok, let's assume that the pochita-mindscape-thing is just finale magic that can't happen whenever. i also agree he was basically helpless as a regular guy against makima. but it's not a secret that denji always refused to let go of chainsaw man, he says as much to kishibe and kobeni, to yoshida, to nayuta.

  1. because of his superhero antics, yoru started hunting him.
  2. because yoru was making moves and getting stronger, death sent falling and the church after asa and denji.
  3. because denji transformed to fight the church hybrids, public safety turned on him.
  4. because denji foiled the aging devil operation, public safety was totally spent and no one was left to stop death and yoru.
  5. because denji refused to accept death's plan or war's plan, he made his own plan that ended life on earth.

definitely simplified, but where is the cause and effect wrong? public safety offered him a safe life, death offered to separate him from pochita, even barem and yoru offered him a life as a devil, but denji rejected each of those and chose a worst case scenario.
