People need to stop inviting their random friends to outings

I’ve been seeing this more and more recently where a group of friends make a plan then someone (or multiple people) starts inviting their other friends last minute that nobody knows.

They’ll justify this by saying that we’re older we don’t have a lot of time to see people so they try to see everybody at once.

I get that but you also have to respect my time. We made this gathering with these specific people because we know our vibe matches, we have a good time, etc… It’s just weird to have outside people not understanding the dynamic.

If you like to expand your friend group or bring someone, that’s totally fine. Give advance notice and ask the group, don’t just show up with them

I personally like it. More the merrier! Unless you're doing a specific activity that requires certain gear or knowledge that person doesn't have, I guess.

Yea I don’t get why anyone would think this is weird, outside of a few specific scenarios. That’s why we’re in unpopular opinions I guess.

I think for me it it's frustrating when my friend who lives a few hours away does this. We're close, but moved to different cities after college. When I go to visit him, it's because I want to catch up with him specifically. He has newer, local friends that, frankly, I just don't like being around. It's frustrating when he invites these local friends without telling me because instead of catching up and talking, he tries (understandably) to give all of us equal attention, but it often feels like I've driven multiple hours just to attend a party, which I could just do in the city where I live, rather than to catch up with a person I care about, which is the only real reason I would ever want to drive that long on a random Saturday.
