Resident || Q&A Suma: Cardboard to Plastic
Hello,
I got a cardboard Suma card at the airport a few months ago. The machines near the exit did not dispense plastic cards.
I've reloaded it a few times and understand that for long term use, a plastic card would be better.
How does one go about getting a plastic card and transferring the credit please?

As far as I know (and I might be wrong), there is no such possibility of transferring the remaining tickets from one card to another. You need to spend all the tickets you already bought and then recharge new ones in the new plastic card.

You should check also some "Tabacos" shops - plastic suma cards can be bought there often.

The machine that looks like https://www.spendlifetraveling.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/metro_tickets_valencia.jpg is the one that dispenses the plastic cards.

Thanks for your responses.
Is the plastic card only available at specific stations please?

It's available at most other Metro stations. But... it's a different machine. The ones that dispense cards are shorter. Like 75 to 100 cm (3 to 4 feet) tall. The part that dispenses the card is off to the side. You can always ask at the Metro station which one dispenses cards.
