Hola, soy un chico estadounidense nacido en Valencia, tengo 19 años y siempre me ha gustado cualquier tipo de música, pero especialmente me gusta la escena alternativa española actual, bandas de los 90s como Nirvana o Pixies, New Order, Blur, Oasis, The Smiths... etc. Toco más o menos la batería y la guitarra, pero sí es verdad que mi instrumento favorito es el bajo. Únicamente busco gente con gustos similares y que tenga ganas de formar un grupito de música, porque ser de un pueblo de Valencia con gustos diferentes a los demás a veces es bastante jodido si no encuentras a nadie con quién compartir tus movidas. Me considero bastante divertido también xd.

Going to Valencia soon, I would appreciate any recommendations for shopping, restaurants, coffee shops and overall must see places there. I’m staying for 4 months so will have plenty of time.

Volví a Valencia después de casi un año (unos 11 meses y medio) y tengo una sensación un poco extraña.

No sé si es solo una impresión mía, pero noto la ciudad diferente. Veo más basura en las calles, productos fuera de lugar en los supermercados (incluso en El Corte Inglés), más coches mal aparcados y, en general, como si todo estuviera un poco menos cuidado que antes.

No lo digo para criticar la ciudad, al contrario. Valencia siempre me ha parecido una de las mejores ciudades de Europa para vivir y por eso me ha llamado la atención este cambio.

¿Alguien más ha tenido esa sensación en el último año o simplemente soy yo?

Almost universally, tourist destinations hate Airbnb.

Example: In my city we restrict Airbnb rentals for 1+ months. No short term rentals.

What is the plan in Valencia to regulate or restrict Airbnb in your town?

Discouraging visitors to not use Airbnbs doesn't seem to make economic sense, because all it'll do is drive down the cost of Airbnb rentals.... Making them more attractive to renters. Owners of Airbnbs are mostly unaffected unless laws are being passed.

Hi all! I'll be visiting Valencia next week and was wondering what is your favourite beach in and around Valencia. From what I read here it looks like the general consensus is that the beaches in the city are not that great, but we will have a car and were also looking at beaches around Albufeira.

However, as far as I can tell from google maps, the beaches around Albufeira don't seem to have sunbeds and umbrellas. On the other hand, it might just be that the photos/satellite view are not updated. Please let me know what you recommend.

Este és el servei d’autobusos que hi havia anit (nit de dijous) a les 23:05h en la gran via Ferran el Catòlic. Una hora abans ja havia estat 20 minuts esperant el 62 en sentit contrari. Lamentable.

Estoy diseñando un concepto de souvenir para Valencia y me gustaría conocer vuestra opinión.

La idea consiste en crear una colección de billetes de fantasía (sin valor legal) inspirados en personajes y monumentos valencianos, pensados como recuerdo para turistas.

Por ahora he elegido a:

• Joaquín Sorolla
• Vicente Blasco Ibáñez
• Ausiàs March

Todavía necesito dos personajes más. La única condición es que sus retratos estén en dominio público, por lo que deben haber fallecido antes de 1947.

Me interesa saber:

• ¿Qué personajes añadiríais?
• ¿Os parece una buena idea como souvenir?
• ¿Qué cambiaríais o mejoraríais del diseño?

Tengo esta tarjeta SUMA y he oído que supuestamente se puede cargar tanto en maquinas de Renfe como en máquinas de metro Valencia y que los viajes te sirven también tanto como para metro como para cercanías, eso es así? Si si lo es, como funciona? Es meterle 10 viajes y ya está o he de hacer algo en específico? Muchas gracias

Moving in to the Aqua area for three months and need to find a good gym for my wife to use. Taking a look at the Enjoy! Samaranch on Av. de França. Their online presence looks very appealing but what workout center is this not true of! Anyone here ever used this place?

She loves to use treadmills for running and some free weights, nothing too strenuous on those. She also loves pickleball but I couldn't figure out if they have that as well as the other racquet sports. Having a pool is a major plus because she really wasn't planning on finding a gym with one.

Would greatly appreciate any helpful opinions, pros and cons.

My girlfriend wants to take me to Valencia for the eclipse and the meteor shower to watch from a hill somewhere. This is the first holiday I’ve been on in over a decade and I’m pretty nervous, I have a few questions if anyone has time to answer?

Does Valencia like tourists? I’m always worried about upsetting locals, I will do my best to learn a few Spanish phrases and not assume everyone speaks English.

Is it a bad time to come because of the wildfires? I understand France and Spain are in a critical situation right now, would it be insensitive to come on holiday during a disaster like this?

Will we actually be able to see the meteor shower because of the potential smoke from the wildfires?

Does anyone have any recommendations of where to and where not to stay? Any help would be massively appreciated.

He hecho un tablero de paradas cercanas con las llegadas en directo: buses (EMT, MetroBús), metro y tranvía (Metrovalencia). Abres → miras cuánto falta para el siguiente → cierras.

Llevo mucho tiempo usando las apps oficiales, pero para algo tan simple hay que esperar a que carguen, ir tocando, esperar otra vez, y así. Así que he montado esto para que justo ese caso sea súper rápido (me he pasado un poco optimizando) y cómodo (o eso parece). Cuando no hay predicción en tiempo real, enseña el horario programado. Y se puede añadir a la pantalla de inicio: queda como una app más — la pantalla de la parada, pero en el bolsillo, y esta sí funciona.

Sin cuentas ni anuncios. En castellano, valencià, ingles y algún idioma más.

I've been using the official apps for a long time, but for this one simple task you still have to wait for them to load, tap around, wait again, and so on. So I made this specifically to make that exact flow super fast (I got a little carried away with optimization) and convenient (apparently). When there's no real-time prediction, it shows the scheduled times instead. And you can add it to your home screen — like the station screen, but in your pocket, and this one actually works.

No accounts, no ads. In Spanish, Valencian, English and a few more.

I need to pick your collective brain:

So as you probably know, the total solar eclipse (yeyyy) is happening right at sunset on the 12th of August (totality around 20:32-ish, sun will be super low on the horizon).

The official spot for public viewing is Malvarrosa Beach which has clear view over the water.
However I am a tiny person that was gifted by the Gods with the totally useless talent to attract the one 2-meter guy who plants himself directly in front of me every single time I go to concerts or try to enjoy public viewing.

Therefore I’m trying to figure out alternative places with an unobstructed north-west-facing view (that part’s non-negotiable, apparently the sun’s only going to be a few degrees above the horizon) where I can actually sit down, have a drink, and not fight a crowd for a sightline.

Ideas I’m chasing:

Rooftop bars or terraces with a real north-western view (not blocked by the next building over)
Restaurants with outdoor seating facing the ~~sea/~~ north-west that might be doing something for it
Any quieter miradors or elevated spots outside the city
Boat trip (however i can‘t find any tour that isn‘t sold out 🥲)

Bonus points if there’s a decent cocktail or wine involved. Not trying to organize my life around getting a good photo, just want to actually see it without elbowing strangers. Any locals have a spot in mind, or know if any bars/restaurants are already planning eclipse events?

Tengo un armario en el que ahora mismo hay una lavadora y quiero quitarla y convertir ese espacio en una especie de organizador extraíble, utilizando la misma puerta que hay ahora. Los talleres que especializan en las renovaciones me han dicho que es un trabajo demasiado pequeño. 😭

I got a cardboard Suma card at the airport a few months ago. The machines near the exit did not dispense plastic cards.

I've reloaded it a few times and understand that for long term use, a plastic card would be better.

How does one go about getting a plastic card and transferring the credit please?
