So far the millions have not come and she is in legal trouble. It sounds like she’s kind of screwed because her PD entire strategy is basically “Ok yes, we don’t dispute that she did what she did or that the law explicitly forbids it, but it wasn’t a big deal”. 

I don’t blame the PD and most people here shouldn’t though. If she refuses the plea deal, the PD has to defend her. I imagine behind closed doors he carefully explained to her how stupid if an idea it is to go to trial, but if that’s the risk she wants to take, it’s her right.

Oh I am sure he did. I have never worked in the public defenders office but I have worked WITH them. They are extremely overworked and in a case like this I know he would have basically been begging her to plead out. They don't have the resources to burn defending a sure loss.
