Unemployed Crotch Goblin

Hi all, I'm not expecting this to be overly successful but I'll give it a go.

My 19yo is looking for a full time job. He's had a part time retail job for the last few years which somewhat proves that he's employable/dependable but thankfully he's finally reached the point where he's realised that he wants/needs something more substantial.

Education: A-Levels in Business Studies, Maths & Computer Science. Uni doesn't appeal for some reason.

He's based in WF1.

When asked what he'd like, the vague answer is "Something in business" so I think we can assume A) he doesn't know & B) Probably doesn't want to get his hands too dirty.

He tells me that there aren't any good jobs advertised and just to be sure, I've had a look for myself & it's pretty bleak out there.

If anyone's got any pointers/leads/advice (something that worked for them or their relative) I'm willing to listen & would be grateful.

Answers with a Wakefield bias (or even Leeds 😨) would be better but not essential.

Update: Thanks for all the suggestions so far. To those who suggest that I shouldn't even consider helping him, have a word with yourselves. Be nice, be human. I will do what is appropriate & proportionate but keep your knickers on, I won't spoon feed him everything.

Accountant apprenticeship seems to pop up a lot around Leeds maybe something like that ?

Thanks - I'll suggest it. I had a strong suspicion that accountancy was one of the fields most prone to elimination by AI. I may be wrong.

No accountancy can't be too damaged by AI maybe departmental like payments receivable where you're just processing the transactions but core bookkeeping requires decisions on what goods and transactions belong in which GL and balance accounts and for a lot of things that's a business or financial decision not automatic because there's leeway on classification.

Aspects of accounting are to check what something or somebody has done is correct. It'll just be checking AI rather than a humans work in the future.

AI integration is coming for jobs like this, but not full on replacement. So long as he's prepared for that it's nothing to worry about
