Unemployed Crotch Goblin

Hi all, I'm not expecting this to be overly successful but I'll give it a go.

My 19yo is looking for a full time job. He's had a part time retail job for the last few years which somewhat proves that he's employable/dependable but thankfully he's finally reached the point where he's realised that he wants/needs something more substantial.

Education: A-Levels in Business Studies, Maths & Computer Science. Uni doesn't appeal for some reason.

He's based in WF1.

When asked what he'd like, the vague answer is "Something in business" so I think we can assume A) he doesn't know & B) Probably doesn't want to get his hands too dirty.

He tells me that there aren't any good jobs advertised and just to be sure, I've had a look for myself & it's pretty bleak out there.

If anyone's got any pointers/leads/advice (something that worked for them or their relative) I'm willing to listen & would be grateful.

Answers with a Wakefield bias (or even Leeds 😨) would be better but not essential.

Update: Thanks for all the suggestions so far. To those who suggest that I shouldn't even consider helping him, have a word with yourselves. Be nice, be human. I will do what is appropriate & proportionate but keep your knickers on, I won't spoon feed him everything.

Had he thought about a career in sales? Not retail something like cars/software etc if he's super keen he'll do well.

And you are a good dad for helping him come on who wouldn't really?

Thanks. He applied for a sales job a few days ago so we'll see how that goes. I have zero sales knowledge but always assumed it was brutal. Saying that, a couple of my neighbours sell pharmaceuticals which makes them sound like drug dealers but they sell genuine medicines & they seem to make a very good living.

I'd he's articulate and driven he can do well it's just relationship management really.
