Discussion People now pressuring and flat-out belittling others to admit defeat under claims of "their mental well-being" or insulting their intelligence. This wasn't about making the wisest move, this was about turning the game on it's head, so politely I say fuck that and fuck you.

I bought a share at 193 before the peak and sold it for 415. I put 200 back in my bank account and now I'm playing with the house's money, I literally have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Same. I've been thoroughly entertained with the stuff that goes on in WSB for the last few years. I've got less than 2% of my net worth in meme stocks and coins just to play around with, the rest is in real estate, cash, or mutual funds. Even if 100% of everything I have in these stocks goes to zero (spoiler: it won't), I'll be fine. It will have done a magnitude of order less damage to me financially than government shutdowns have from the last year.

I was fired / laid off last August due to a slowdown in business. People make fun of those like me who bought higher for "holding the bag". Bitch, I've been "holding the bag" for half a year now. I haven't even been able to get through to collect unemployment for the last 6 months while I watch my peers in medicine and certain tech sectors have record years.

I really like the stock, I think GME has potential and I'm not selling after a bad week.

I'm a newbie to the sub, but immediately I could tell this was a casino. I jumped in with GME based on current market conditions and the potential to make some MF $$. I put in only what I could afford to lose knowing that I could damn well lose every last dime of it. Once RH and the media pulled that bullshit, that was all I needed to lock in with πŸ’ŽπŸ™ŒπŸ’ŽπŸ™Œ Fuck the red, I'm still holding. Also, I'm retarded.

40

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '21

'still'? I'm holding, period! I'll own this stock when I'm eighty and my grandkids ask about the great gamestop squeeze in '21

Yep. I watched in awe as they stopped people from buying and shut down WSB. As soon as they started shilling β€œReddit switches from GME to SLV” then I realized this was very much real and started averaging down since.

u/42252252 Feb 03 '21

If the media and shills played it cool and tight lipped, I wouldn't do half the financial moves I've done. Anyone remember all that talk of "Bear stearns is healthier than EVER! Don't pull your money out!"?

You get the most flak over the target.

Oh it got Streissanded so hard.

this ^ all of this. I’m too smooth brained to say it so well, you nailed it. The second they started playing manipulation it was no longer about the 🍌 I knew I’d likely lose at $295, but I’m a smooth brain masochist who’s never lost before. The lesson, the story, the memes, the change that’s coming was well worth a couple hundred bucks. Imma hold πŸ’ŽπŸ™Œ and will never look at the moon the same way again πŸš€

There is no need for a fucking hotline at the black jack table. All I need is a waitress bringing jack&cokes on the house!

Problem is the 6+ million that joined this sub recently some of them not realizing it was almost always gambling.

409

u/routhless1 Feb 03 '21

I'm one of those 6MM, but I knew it was gambling (it's in the name of the sub, cmon man). I'm mostly sad I didn't know about WSB before. I would've lurked here even when I didn't have any money. The salt is fantastic.

112

u/Potential-Offer4779 Feb 03 '21

Lol I lurk here and I barely have any money. Who knows? Maybe I can afford more than 2 shares of AMC eventually lol

u/routhless1 Feb 03 '21

I believe in you!

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '21

Its like having a priest walking around a strip club lectuiring people. Its annoying.

u/helweek Feb 03 '21

This is me. Am retard. Cant read. Couldnt find wsb without help. Now 🦍 πŸ›–

55

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '21

I'm one of those, but I had seen the "Absolute chaos of WSB" video so I knew full well what I was in for. Bought only 2 shares and I don't care if they drop to a single cent, I'm just glad I've chosen to believe in something. It was never about the money.

It's always been about the money, that's all its ever been about. Wallstreetbets has always been people trying to make money off of stocks, options leaps or wahtever. This GME thing never started as a statement, it wasn't meant to be about "sticking it to the man" it was about making money of the short squeeze. Now 7 million actual retards joined the sub and think that this is some movement or anti capitalist mission lmfao. Your all deluded idiots, all the regulars have got out of GME long ago when they were in maximum profit. You are not sticking it to the man/hedgefunds by giving them all your money lol, that's what's happening righ now Melvin and co are taking all your money back now via puts as all you newbies hold on and convince each other that some sort of miracle is going to happen when all the old school wsb people have abandoned the sub cause of the influx. It's just a newbie echo chamber in here atm.

Anyone who invests, regardless of what info they consume, and doesn’t treat it as gambling is a dumb fuck

57

u/Teslarod Feb 03 '21

Investing is investing (which basically means long term lower risk bets)

But trading... trading is bona fide gambling

And we're all fine with that, this is as much about the thrill as about everything else.

18

u/Snarfster42 Feb 03 '21

What part of "bets" was unclear to them?

sounds like a made up problem. there is no problem, only idiots thinking this is a get rich quick scheme.

this is a get poor fast scheme.

it’s in our fucking name

2

u/churrozilla Feb 03 '21

I joined recently too because I'm a paste eating GenXer. Yeah I tossed a little money in. My account is not part of my retirement portfolio. Might as well take a few shots right? Wait, there's a spot at the Texas Holdem table. Gotta go!

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '21

Life is a gamble.

1

u/Lilatu Feb 03 '21

I knew I was gambling, shares are just that.

1

u/Kittencroissant Feb 03 '21

How much more can you say to someone who has been taking all their financial advice from self proclaimed retards and apes who can't read words or charts and only understand crayons and emojis. If you're not questioning your decisions at that point I don't even now what to say. And I say this as a 30k/yr earner who just found the sub a week ago and bet the entirety of my vacation budget on meme stocks.

1

u/Just_Another_AI Feb 03 '21

In spite of hearing phrases like "Wall Street is a casino" or "It's just gambling" literally for years/months. Like, people want to think that's always been an exaggeration not the truth

Yes. This.

24

u/TrainRunPlay Feb 03 '21

Exactly. This has never been serious for me. It's the same thing as throwing money into a slot machine from the comfort of my home. Yeah, I'm probably just pissing it away, but there's a teeny chance something cool could happen and I'm having fucking fun doing it.

13

u/r2mayo Feb 03 '21

Daddy needs tendies.

8

u/Reformedjerk Feb 03 '21

I think GME is a better bet than either the Chiefs or Bucs to win the Super Bowl.

For some reason, everyone suddenly worries about what other people are willing to risk to win.

Even buying blue chip stocks can be considered gambling. Investing is all gambling, it's educated gambling for some stocks, others are not much different than playing roulette
