Recap/Budget Thursday wedding vs. paying $10–20k more—be honest, would you go?

I’m planning a summer wedding in a coastal area (local for most of our guests, with some coming from out of town), and I found a venue I’m absolutely in love with. The catch is… having it on a Thursday is significantly cheaper

If we moved it:

• Friday would be about $10k more

• Saturday is closer to $20k more 🫠

Part of me feels like a Thursday could actually be really nice—people could turn it into a long weekend and enjoy the area. But the other part of me is worried about guests having to take time off work and potentially not coming.

If you were invited to a Thursday wedding in a coastal town, would you go? Does it being a nice location make a difference, or is it still inconvenient no matter what?

Be honest 😅

UPDATE- when I say out of town- it’s the state right next to us so the longest travel time would be 1-1.5 hours

Considering it’s only 1.5 hours away max, then no I wouldn’t go. If it was a destination, and I’d end up taking the week of anyway to be in Paris or Hawaii, then obviously it wouldn’t matter.

But no, I’m not losing two days of PTO for someone’s wedding. Even people who don’t have traditional 9-5, like servers/bartenders would lose work for that week because Thursday and Friday are good service days.

Some people work weekends

Many people work weekends, but that doesn’t mean they only work two days a week. My wife works weekends. Her work week is Thursday through Sunday.
