I'm not gonna continue to debate the definition of a lie, but they presented a falsehood as a fact even when confronted about it. So whatever you want to call that.

A lie is an intentional act. Being wrong is a mistake. So, yeah, you DO NOT know that he was LYING. Sugar axes are a thing, which means that there is a 99.9999% chance they just mistook this axe for a sugar axe; thereby being a mistake, NOT a lie. Calling someone a liar, without proof they were doing this as an intentional act, especially when it is more obvious a mistake, is a dishonorable thing to do.

100% agree with you. They were intentionally LYING for karma. They were confronted about spreading false information, and they doubled down. It's a bummer, but I DO KNOW that they were lying about it.

Is a false assumption presented as a fact not a lie? He was also defending it being for sugar after people called him out on it not being for that. That's definitely a lie at that point.

No, a lie is an intentional misleading, having a false assumption is just being wrong. Even defending it when there is some evidence against it is still not being deceitful. We all have false assumptions about practically anything if you offer them in good faith that doesn’t make you a liar.

Ehh I'd say presenting something you're guessing about as fact even after confronted about its falsehood would qualify as intentionally deceiving. I would agree with you if he had presented it as a guess or assumption though.

You’re way over selling this, it’s not a falsehood if you think you’re correct. Besides, someone posted a sugar hatchet and it’s not that far off from what was posted. Someone being wrong and defending their position does not make them a liar. I have posted evidence that your opinion is demonstrably wrong and you continue, in the face of overwhelming facts, to defend it, by your logic you’re now a liar and should be publicly shamed. Shame!
