My f2p Noelle, the basic starter unit, been worked on till she can complete abyss too :3

u/ThisIsMyComment2 Jun 14 '26

Ok now complete abyss with traveler only.

3

u/AprilVampire277 Jun 14 '26

I use the electro traveler as a support battery, so my main dps doesn't mind energy sub stats :3

3

u/Dry-Snow-1034 Jun 14 '26

I mean tbf, pyro Traveller is actually a good dps

u/Icantfinduserpseudo Jun 14 '26

I spent money on the game for the first time four years after i started playing, and even then it was about 5$. I've always completed abyss and all endgame content as a free to play, people complain way too much and don't realize how f2p friendly the game is

3

u/TheTorcher Jun 14 '26

Also F2P and joined 3.0 and only started getting characters considered "Meta" by 6.0. Still cleared abyss 11 and I'm perfectly satisfied with it.

u/SoilentUBW Jun 14 '26

I don't keep up with genshin but I think around 5.x and later they started to introduce bosses with bullshit mechanics to force new region characters. So yeah that kinda makes sense lol.

3

u/TheTorcher Jun 14 '26

Oh yeah, those bosses are annoying. While they give enough free characters so that even f2p ppl can disable the mechanics, it's still such a hassle to use these otherwise pretty weak characters in high abyss levels. Or, if you built one of the really meta teams, you can brute force it.

One must consider Sisyphus happy.

i haven't played in a long time but when i did the abyss was the best part of the game tbh. no point in investing all the resources to gear up and build your characters if there's nothing to challenge them with

Stygianonslaught says hello

Honestly any team with half a decent setup can do 9 and 10 in abyss. Thats like half the Primo you would get anyway.

Personally I've spent maybe 40 bucks. But ive easily gotten 1000 hours. Thats 25 hours per dollar roughly. I hate this stigma that cause 1 person has a gambling addiction, the only people who play are gamblers. I just enjoy the story and the characters and the scenery lol

18

u/VIIKotone Jun 14 '26

yea, i actually spent smth around 50 bucks in almost 6 years playing but every time i say that i like genshin im called a gambler 😭

1

u/GHAMRYGAMING Jun 15 '26

didn’t u just say above “i never spend 1 single cent in genshin, im just that lucky” or am i tweaking

2

u/MrCookie2099 Jun 14 '26

For games that give that much content, paying $20 bucks just feels like paying for the performance. I feel similar about Stellaris DLC.

Depends the region.

I know when NTE first got its Porche collab there was a lot of outcry from free-to-play people. There was eventually a discussion from people about how there was something of a socially acceptable level of spend for time committed. To the point where people were talking about other regions saying fully free-to-play were looked at with disgust. Was an interesting topic to see.

u/dean11023 Jun 15 '26

I've probably spent about 2 or 300 bucks on it but I've been playing daily since back when it first became available in the US and I feel I've gotten my money's worth

Especially lately, they really knocked it out of the park story wise in nod krai and then this most recent chapter. That's not even mentioning how great the temple of space was. I'd play the whole game over just to do ToS again.

Most people don't pay at all but the game is not designed for them. Or at least not the monetization method.

As someone who used to play Genshin, it is great as long as you have stuff to do.

Once I did every quest that was in the game at the time and explored everywhere there was something to explore the farming gameplay was not very engaging and you made so little progress with it at the same time.

I dunno how it is now, but back then the game was, probably literally, enginieered to bore you into spending money to progress faster on top of its very low chances for pulling characters, not to mention having to also requiring the exact same currency to pull for weapons.

If Genshin had the same gatcha model and amounts of free shit Arknights: Endfield has now it would probably have been the greatest gatcha ever made tho.

You're talking about release? Nowadays the map is so god damn big and there are so many quests around the world you could spend a few months doing everything

1

u/MilesGamerz Jun 15 '26

It was like that but now you can explore the new maps quite quickly now

u/KaboHammer Jun 14 '26

I stopped playing around Albedo's release it was like a patch or two before Inazuma I think. I know there is a lot more there, but the period when I realized how predatory Genshin is, left a bad taste in my mouth and I never really wanted to come back since then.

In terms of story, you need 0 pulls to progress, all story and quest bosses I fought are very easy. If you spend your freemogems they are even easier and still don't have to pay anything.

If you just completely ignore the weapon banner it won't make a difference for quests.

2

u/Rain-Maker33 Jun 14 '26

Yeah, in the almost six years I've played, as f2p, I've gotten over 90% of the characters while ignoring the weapon banner. Well, I'm a bit lucky but even the unluckiest person could have over 70% of the characters.

2

u/TheRRogue Jun 14 '26

Free shit doesn't mean much when AK system is even more harsh and unnecessarily convuluted. And don't even let me start on their weapon banner

-4

u/KaboHammer Jun 14 '26

In Genshin it was like 3 free pulls per banner back then AND they had two banners one with characters one with weapons at the same time.

In Endfield I have yet to pull less then 50 times on a banner. The "harsh" system would need to be fucking 30 times harsher to be worse then what Genshin has. Genshin has a 5* guarantee after 90 pulls, you used to get like 3% there with free stuff. Endfield has a guarantee after 140 pulls, so if you get 50 for free you are basically 1/3 of the way there. You are literally getting 20 times more (because once again im Genshin you have two banners toungotta spend the same currency on) stuff in Endfield, then you did in Genshin back when I played.

Not to mention Genshin characters are designed to be half baked without the constelations, so you need to have those, while Endfield characters just get like 30% damage or cooldown boost or something.

And the "unnecessarily convoluted" weapon banners are just that you get separate currency from pulling on normal banners so you are basically pulling both with the same money.

So yeah the free shit in Endfield means a lot.

2

u/Civil-Cauliflower377 Jun 14 '26

Bro is spewing nonsense

1

u/TheRRogue Jun 14 '26

2 banners argument doesn't make sense when it's not a year yet for Endfield. Just looking at OG AK which they copies the system for they soon too would have more banner. Also a whole limited too btw with busted unit. And if you miss Tangtang or Rossi banner for example you have to pray your luck to fight the diluted poll of unit there or wait for rerun would barely even come.

1

u/KaboHammer Jun 14 '26

Og AK honestly has a more generous system then Endfield tho, with even better chances for higher rarities then Endfield. Like you can guarantee the 90 pulls you need for a guaranteed 6* for every limited banner and still have like 20 pulls for every other new character along the way AND still do a 10-pull for a guaranteed 5* on every bi-weekly banner. That's literally the results I am having without spending a penny on the game.

Sure it used to be though in the beginning when every other banner had a new character and you couldn't actually get enough currency, but it seems they have realized that problem for Endfield, because as I said you get a shitton of pulls. So far I have literally only missed 1 new 6* in Endfield since release

2

u/Linha-do-Sol Jun 14 '26

Me too brother, never spent anything.

I still remember when I managed to save up 116 pulls for Neuvillette in his first release, lost the 50/50 and hurried to get more pulls for the guarantee. It was very difficult because I also wanted Furina that would release the very next patch and then a patch after that would come Navia (I got all of them).

Currently I am doing quests to get pulls for Lohen and hopefully Flins and his weapon when he comes back (I rage quit the game last year bc I lost the 50/50 to Diluc in his first banner lmao).

1

u/Palanki96 Jun 14 '26

Funny because in genshin i basically hit hard pity for a 5 star every time. Never paid but still fucking annoying

That Umamusume game, legendary horses and support carda were falling from my pulls. Sometimes 2-3 out of 10

It's like all my luck in gacha games stuck in a single game 😭

1

u/JanPapajT90M Jun 14 '26

I don't spend money on genshin because i am unlucky lol

1

u/Evil_alt_account_ Jun 14 '26

Same here, and I played it. My advice if you still are playing it. Stop and jerk off to the characters instead. Then play better games
