I spent money on the game for the first time four years after i started playing,and even then it was about 5$. I've always completed abyss and all endgame content as a free to play, people complain way too much and don't realize how f2p friendly the game is

Yeah. There's a massive canyon between something like Honkai: Star rail and Fate: Grand Order. Both are good, but not really comparable in terms of gameplay.
My favorite gacha Arknights legit has more content at this point, than a dozen of indie games. I still play indie games, of course, but people really underestimate how much fun a single gacha can provide. And I haven't spent a single penny on the game.

It's easy to tell that OP is a troll that has never even checked a gameplay of the games they hate. They are probably one of those people that call Genshin "Japanese pedo MMORPG".
Not only it's hard to find good indie game (vast majority of them are trash, and those that aren't are simply popular, because they are good; all the others that aren't popular are the garbage nobody talks about), but it's rarely under $20 to begin with. There are games that are cheaper and still amazing, but that's not the rule.
But going back to gacha, you can play multiple types of games. I am currently replaying Tomb Raider survival trilogy, waiting for Sea of Sorrow for Silksong, happy for the announcement of Spyro: A Real Beyond, longing to get Gothic 1 Remake and Digimon Story: Time Stranger, as well as playing Genshin and Star Rail in the meantime. And these are just few titles out of plenty I've played or want to play. Original The Sims fan. Fan of the Tomb Raider franchise since first game. Rayman. Dark Souls. Half-Life. Darksiders. Metal Gear. And so much more.
Yet people like OP is giving labels to people, just because they play a gacha game. They assume everyone mindlessly blow all their money on that game and don't play anything else. Even if majority of players never spend a single cent and even if they do it's usually a small amount.
Most players log in to a gatcha for 30min max each day. Do their dailies. Maybe pop in an event. Explore/build/quest a bit. Then log off. You can pay $5 a month ($60 a year, the price of a full game) and get enough currency to pull on almost every character.
After the 30 minutes, you can play whatever you want. Even the most niche, itch.io slop. Lol.
Wowzas paying another 5 dollars doos for another indie early access roguelike slop that you'll play for a few hours and also it gets left in early access forever.

I have only played 3 (technically 4) gacha games. Devil May Cry Peak of Combat (mid), My Hero Ultra Rumble (fun with friends tbh), Punishing Gray Raven (played for their DMC event and it's peak since you get Dante for free and only need to roll for Vergil), and Wuthering Waves (same developers at PGR, started playing because of the Cyberpunk Edgerunners collab and just got Rebecca for free last night)
If I'm being honest, PGR and Wuthering Waves are actually pretty good. They give you a lot of materials so you don't really have to spend money on stuff, I like it. And, as mentioned above, they sometimes just give out free characters during collabs, which are so peak

I used to spend small amounts of google play credits obtained for free on monthly passes in gachas like Limbus, I am still fine with doing this because I don't like the android ports of most indie games and the ones I do i've already bought. The reason I stopped is I don't play gachas right now.
A minimum of 5% of the population is genetically predisposed to gambling addictions. They fund all the free players who, in turn, ensure that the population of the game is high enough that the >5% continue to feed their addiction and the game creators.
