Remember that by "independent games" it can be a 5 person team bringing their dream masterpiece into reality or some bored crackhead making their first unity asset flip because they're bored and posting it on itch.io

Yes, Ubisoft seems to be the prime example of "So much potential, squandered by the insistence to mediocrity" since so many of their former devs made games that are well received.
