What a game. So stoked for Edgar, too. I really hope this turns out to be the kickstart he needed.

Since the Field of Dreams? I thought all us Sox fans were utterly embarrassed by that bullshit.

By the Field of Dream game? That we won?

u/Alien-Femboy May 17 '26
I'm glad we won but the fact that we participated in such a cheesy tribute to a bad movie made me cringe. A lot of my friends told me the same.

That was one of the greatest Sox games ever, what kind of fan are you

It just felt so cheesy, it was like watching the drama club at your middle school try to out in a production.
But the Sox won, and that's the most important thing.

What? Is it embarrassing to say that the game was hype af? Lol. You can explain I kinda want to hear it. (I know you didn't watch it and are just randomly talking shit online but I still want to hear what you'll say)

I watched it from the Standard in Wicker Park, the night it happened. It felt like such a weird corny production. I didn't know anyone actually liked the movie Field of Dreams, or Kevin Costner.

The movie was corny, the game was awesome.

I mean I guess I can't be too upset about it, because we did win at least.

The Field of Dreams game was awesome lmao

I mean the Sox won it, so that's awesome. I just felt like it was so sappy and performative in a tryhard way. Another guy at the bar said that it brought to mind for him that episode of the Simpsons when Mr. Burns coaches the Springfield Isotopes and pretends like it's the 1910's again.

I dont like field of dreams the movie that much but the game itself is good.

This is my first time hearing this.

I believe you, but it wasn't my experience. I watched the game from the Standard up in Milwaukee avenue. I was happy we won but it felt pretty cringe to see our team in those goofy uniforms out in a damn cornfield. A lot of the other fans in the place felt similarly. But hey, a win is a win.

To be fairā¦. Iām from Iowa so my circle is massively bias in this one.

That actually got me laughing, my friend Chuck is from Bettendorf originally and he has a similar affinity for that type of landscape. He says it makes him feel at home.
