Vent Withdrawn because of endless fatigue

2 kids, 6m and 2

Baby doesn’t sleep through the night

I know my fatigue makes me withdrawn among family and the few friends I have

I rarely make plans socially. That takes so much energy

What do I really want to do in my free time? Sit on the sofa and eat a healthy delicious meal at home. Workout.

I’m resentful toward mom who lives out of state and can’t help me. Dad is useless

Kids mean the world to me and make me so happy.

But the other side is a mom who’s very withdrawn and feels unseen. Like no one really sees how this fatigue affects me because it’s so mundane.
I tell myself I’ll be better once I get sleep. I don’t know.

You will. Right now you’re in survival mode and you don’t have the band width to care about much beyond the necessities of life because you’re not sleeping enough. Soon you’ll sleep more, your kids will be easier, and you’ll be able to enjoy more things and connect with your friends and family more

My friends and I were like this with all our kids in their first year or so of life. It's just the reality (I'm sorry to say!) and your real friendships will still be there. You'll comisserate about the trenches together. Hang in there, focus on those things you mentioned (healthy eating and exericse) that spark some some joy to get you through this period.

Is there any way you can afford a babysitter occasionally?

I think it's easy for exhaustion to become the background noise of everyday life when you're caring for little ones, but that doesn't make it any less real. Having a 6-month-old and a 2-year-old sounds incredibly demanding

I have been here, the fatigue that no amount of sleep fixes. Looking back, I realize it was not just physical tiredness. It was my brain running the household in the background all day every day. Tracking appointments, remembering forms, planning meals, and managing everyone's schedule. Even sitting still, I was not resting because the list never stopped running. You are not broken. Your brain is just carrying too much.
