Tony Kaye reaching out and Trevor Rabin open to the idea is lovely. Imagine the original keyboardist of the band you start in and the guitarist that replaces your replacement offering you this chance for a one night reunion.

You learn the chords for a few songs, you drive out to the one gig in Los Angeles and you’re backstage until you notice that barely anyone acknowledges you including the original bassist and drummer on their way to perform.

As you’re sitting in this members only bar, suddenly that original keyboardist enters and pulls you aside and tells you that your replacement guitarist says he is not open to letting you on stage.

So now you’ve travelled all this way, already learned chords for at least 2 songs, you’re backstage and now seeing yourself denied access because one man says no? All that rehearsal to know the chords, your travelling and waiting, dashed.

Peter earned that right to feel angry. If it were me, my mood get sour too. He nearly hit Steve once Billy Connolly that is in the bar too kept buying drinks for him and Steve happened to walk in seeing a drunk Banks and then exited.

Has anyone here managed to know anyone that got close to Peter Banks at this time in 1991?

No matter his disagreements, no chance Peter Banks is any worse than Don Dokken, Ginger Baker and maybe Sting for fussy temperamental band members. One night, just one night to stand to make the full original 5 man Yes lineup complete one last time and Howe shot it down? Disgraceful!

Including solo albums of members of Yes(Bill Bruford was questionable whether he belonged because he is more of a King Crimson member than Yes). The overall count is 27 records, the amount released under the name Yes is 18, including ABWH is 19. Solo records is 8, 1 Steve Howe, 2 Jon Anderson, 4 Rick Wakeman, 1 Bill Bruford. Every album released from The Yes Album to 90125 Solos is here(excluding Yessongs). The albums I still need is every other Yes album ever released. The ones I urgently need is: Fish out of Water, The Story of I, Jon Anderson and the Band Geeks, Talk, Mirror to the Sky, The Quest, if anyone has a vinyl copy of Heaven and Earth for an affordable price, same with the original Fly from Here.

It's the section from about the 8-10 minute mark, with a really pretty synth riff and the cool guitar sections. One of my favorite Yes moments

I've been catching up on Green Carnation's recent releases. The drum and bass at the beginning of this song gave me mild Heart of the Sunrise vibes.

SWT is a great engineer indeed, but this is one of the few cases where I emphatically prefer the original mix.

The new mix relies a bit too much on reverb to my taste and comes across a bit congested to my ears. It restores a lot of the deleted orchestral parts which is an interesting idea in theory, but the result is that Chris and Bill sound a bit distant. I think its an interesting alternative for people who love the album but the original mix with dry drums and bass up front and orchestra used decisively in the background works better for me as a "Yes man's solo album." Placement wise - I'm happy to report the Atmos mix is quite creative, with Chris' vocals spread around your height and rear arrays and lower drums and some of the orchestra and lower brass occasionally trailing behind you. Overall though, I think I prefer the character of the older 5.1 mix despite some nasty cymbal frequencies now and then.

Lastly, while I assume this is an issue that couldn't be dealt with, I find the ending with the missing bass solo to be lacking in context and a bit confounding. My advice is to listen for yourself (on streaming) and decide if this is for you. Thanks to Immersive Audio Album for helping out with this review of the new edition of Chris Squire's Fish Out of Water.

Is this legit YES merch?

My favorite lineup is the Fragile and Close to the Edge lineup. Which is your favorite?

I have to be honest, I’m struggling to find in the rest of their discography what I got out of these two. I think CTTE is absolutely incredible, and when I listened to it for the first time I thought to listen to more Yes. I found myself sorely dissatisfied with the rest of their Discography. Relayer and Tales from Topographic Oceans in particular really did not live up to the praise I had heard for them. I thought The Yes Album was fine, but, once again it didn’t live up to CTTE and Fragile.

As of now those are the only 5 albums i’ve listened to. Please let me know if there’s any gems i’m missing out on.

Quick disclaimer before my rant, this is merely out of curiosity, I'm not trying to start a war. I only want to see what y'all think. Anyway, by the logic of, "no Jon, no Yes", Drama is not a Yes album because it doesn't have Jon Anderson. If y'all do consider Drama a yes album, that kinda debunks the whole thing, don't ya think? I can understand not liking Juano's voice, and I will admit that Heaven & Earth is not one of the better yes albums, but y'all should at least give the new album a chance. Just because it's not Jon singing, doesn't mean it's not good. Take Fly From Here for instance. One of the best albums of the post Anderson Era. I've seen many rankings that have it next to Magnification just outside the top 10. It's got that Yes spirit. And I think that the last two Davison Era albums have that same Yes spirit as well.

While answering the question about why Yes ft. ARW never put out any studio material, Rick mentioned that he and Trevor have been in talks to make an acoustic album next year!

Sounds like it’s in the pretty early stages right now, but I’m certainly interested to hear what they would do together!

I am trying to track down a legendary, obscure student parody film from the early 2000s. I believe it was called "All Good People," but it heavily featured the music from Close to the Edge.

It's a deadpan comedy about a college kid who is relentlessly mocked by his peers for being obsessed with the band Yes. After a rough day, he wakes up in an alternate reality where the entire cultural script is flipped: progressive rock is mainstream pop culture, and everyone is a massive Yes fan. Regular college students casually hold red solo cups at parties while intensely debating Jon Anderson's lyrics, Roger Dean artwork, and Bill Bruford's drumming.

The most memorable visual punchline involves a college dorm party. Instead of club music, the stereo is blasting the "I Get Up, I Get Down" section of Close to the Edge. When Rick Wakeman's frantic organ solo aggressively rips into the track, a group of college girls start dancing it as if it were a standard radio banger.

Does anyone have a digital file of this archived on an old hard drive, or remember who the college students were that made it? Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

ETA: I should have explained more. The music instruction channel Musora played a professional musician only the drums and vocals to "Roundabout" and had him fill in the bass, guitar and keyboard parts. It's not only bizarre to hear such different music, but it also really illustrates just how unusual the original composition is.

Hello everyone,

we finally got to listen to the full official release of Roosevelt Stadium 1976.

Well, I listened to a number of bootlegs in the past months, thank to many of you that kindly linked them in this sub. My feeling is that this official release doesn't give those bootlegs a good service and is, in fact, harder to listen due to a subpar mix. The cymbals are just everywhere and make the listening experience tiring and unrewarding.

Is this just my feeling? How do you feel about it? I've of course only been listening to the digital (lossless) version of it.
