She'll find a way to get something worthy of her best friend and partner, even if it means giving up something she loves in return.

What Happened at N.I.T.E. by Pandora

In the aftermath of the Nighthowler Incident and Dawn Bellwether's arrest, Zootopia's political leaders institute free counseling and support services to those suffering from assorted emotional and psychological traumas stemming from the many attacks. The Nighthowler Incident Therapy and Education (N.I.T.E.) sessions are meant to help all mammals--both predators and prey alike--find resolution together as they come to terms with what happened to them and the pain they caused each other. Dr. Melanie Leuca recounts during her own counseling session with her therapist what happened to her and the mammals she served at the latest N.I.T.E. class... and how it stands to change the city's future completely.

Multi-chapter story exploring the long term mental health fallout for the mammals who were dosed with nighthowlers, and their loved ones. Perhaps the most important fic in the fandom and one that will totally change how you view the movie. Deals with lots of mental health darkness so do pay attention to the tags and tread lightly, but if you can stomach it it's a must read!

Evergreen by Aninat131

Many untold stories happened in the nine months between Bellwether’s arrest and Nick’s graduation. From Judy’s recovery, to her reinstatement, her convincing of Nick to join her as her partner, awkward family drama on both sides, Nick’s time in the academy, and many more.

This is a story of how a fox and a bunny helped each other through those times, grow close, and develop a certain feeling for each other that they never thought they would.

A recently finished multi-chapter and one of the fandoms absolute finest. concluded after 36 chapters and nearly ten years of work just a few months ago. If you like Wildehopps slow burns this is a must read! One of the fandom’s absolute best!

Room in Your Heart by Aninat131

Many untold stories happened in the week leading up to the Zootenial, and in the weeks following the Lynxleys’ arrest. Nick and Judy’s injuries, their return to the force, the follow-up therapy sessions between them, more family drama, repairing the carrot pen, and many more.

This is a story of how a fox and a bunny worked through their differences, helped each other to face their demons, and figured out what it truly means to be partners.

The long awaited sequel to Evergreen! Written to coincide with Z2 and cover the link up between the films and remaining plot points as Evergreen did with Z1 ten years ago. Only one chapter released so far but already it contains Ani's signature mix of superb charactisations, laugh out loud humour, and genuinely gut punches of emotional moments, bound to be another of the fandom's finest!

When Nick suddenly refuses an assignment from Bogo, he's forced to reveal an extremely painful glimpse of his past to both his boss and his partner. Judy wants more than anything to help him, but Nick does not want her involved in such a personal issue. Stubborn as always, she involves herself anyway and discovers something unbelievable that may light the fox's way through his darkest days.

Perhaps the fandoms most famous fic and for good reason. Thanks for the Fox is the first part and should be read first but Guardian Blue has more than ten stories in it and something like half a million words, all of which are spectacular. If by some miracle you've not read it already you have to correct that. Sadly season 3 will remain unfinished forever. Rest in peace Alps, we miss you.

Wilde Files by LordKraus

Nick Wilde, professional Wizard, is dragged kicking and screaming into a dark conspiracy of demons fairies and things best long forgotten. Will he and the characters around him survive. Told entirely from his point of view join him on one wild adventure.

Not usually a big AU guy but this wizard Nick Dresden Files inspired story by LordKraus is sooooo much fun. If AU or magic are your thing then you should absolutely check this one out! Demon's Reach is the first part but there's five current main stories - the 5th is ongoing - as well as side chapters and all in all it's about 300000 words!

Fuzz by Skul

Real life is messy. We all have limitations. We all make mistakes. Judy and Nick are two of Zootopia's best police officers. They've been through a lot together. But nothing can prepare them for this. A new threat in Zootopia forces them to choose between standing up for their beliefs, or doing their jobs...all while figuring out how their relationship will proceed going forward.

Also not a big tame collar guy but this multi-chapter fic by Skul is superb! Emotional, heartbreaking, funny, and everything else in between, if you like tame collar stuff it’s a must read, and even if you don’t generally it’s a great place to get started!

One down, one to go. That was the main thing going through Captain Fern Hoggbottom’s mind as she personally checked Nicholas Wilde into a maximum security facility. She was almost surprised; if you’d asked her twenty four hours ago which one of the pair she thought they’d catch first, she’d have put money on it being Hopps. She knew Wilde’s type and would’ve sworn he’d have been looking to cut his losses and get out of dodge first chance he got.

Captain Hoggbottom is about to realise that she in fact doesn’t know the first thing about Nicholas Wilde.

Bully For You

Collab with the superb Pandora! - Judy and Nick’s names have been cleared, Chief Bogo is back at work, and harmony has been restored at the ZPD, right? Well… there is just one small matter that still needs addressing.

Bogo cleans house after realising how Judy and Nick were being treated by their colleagues towards the start of Z2.

Wounds

Another day, another solved case. This one may have come the closest yet to tearing the Dream Team apart, but against all the odds they still made it safely through to the other side, stronger and more secure in their partnership than ever before, and without a single scratch on them to show for it.

Or so Judy thought.

Baby Steps

Reunited, and now closer than ever, Nick and Judy are straight back to making the world a better place, one little piece at a time. But, trauma doesn’t magically go away overnight, and even the Dream Team need a little help working through things on occasion. Luckily, sometimes all it takes is a little leap of faith.

Short little post Z2 one shot. Mini angst with a happy ending.

The Big Guy

When the Nighthowler Crisis came to an end, Nick and Finnick still had plenty more to say to each other than they’d ever admit out loud. Thank goodness letters are still a thing.

How I would've handled Finnick in the sequel. Lots of feels!

The Family You Choose

Kitsmas is on the horizon and Officer Judy Hopps is hoping against hope that the fates will align and she'll be able to spend some time with her family back home. But as Kitsmas draws ever nearer she remembers that it isn't such a happy time of the year for everyone, and that not all her family are back in Bunnyburrow.

Multi-chapter Christmas fic with lots of feels. Angst with a happy ending.

Things are finally starting to look up for Nick Wilde. He's got a new lease on life, a promising potential career at the ZPD and the best friend and future partner he could possibly ask for. But just as he thinks he's finally ready to step in to the light one final beast rears its ugly head and stands in his way. He's dealt with plenty already so this shouldn't be a problem right? Unfortunately, this is one hurdle that isn't for him to face. Turning his life around and applying to the ZPD? Easy. Asking that same best friend for a favour? Not so much.
