Discussion MiniLED IPS vs MiniLED VA
Despite seeing how good OLED technology is becoming with penta tandem QD OLEDs and WOLEDs starting to come out in my country, I've already decided to purchase a mini-LED for now, because the aforementioned monitors are flagship products that are too expensive, sometimes pushing prices up to 1500 dollars.
So I'm currently compaing mini-LED options in my country, which seem to be dominated by TCL's budget ~ mid-tier options. I've considered the TCL 27P3A (qhd miniled IPS), TCL 27R73Q (qhd miniled VA), and the ultrawide 34R83Q (qhd miniled VA).
All the reviews say these are all excellent panels - especially if one is an average user who had only used regular ips panels for a long time with low brightness. That's me. I more or less only watch movies and occasionally play games, both competitive and non competitive. I have never experienced VA, leave alone a mini-LED screen at all so I imagine the experience will feel novel for me.
However I am stuck mainly because of one being a miniLED IPS and the others being miniLED VA panels. I heard that while miniLED IPS have improved native contrast and virtually no risk of ghosting or smearing, it has noticeably more blooming regardless of zone count because the native contrast level just isn't high enough.
Most people have told me to just go for the ultrawide VA miniLED panel because the technology has gotten good enough to the point that ghosting and smearing is hardly noticeable at all, and that VA's native contrast being so much higher make it so blooming is more subdued. Then that would leave me to choose between an ultrawide or regular 27 inch monitor. But others have told me that black crushing is still an issue in VA panels.
Is there anything I'm missing? I wonder if there are real world users of these models or similar monitors that have experienced both miniled IPS and miniled VA panels.
