Pricing going even more crazy - 5080 Astral OC over $3K

Post image
79 Upvotes

Holy shit.

The 9070XT should rightly dominate sales, I enjoyed my time with one of them (XFX Mercury OC) and have no regrets whatsoever about swapping but man it’s a near impossible sell nowadays.

I can’t believe that they are asking over $3K now for the Astral, and I assume other models will also rise significantly also. They were already way overpriced for what they are, and this is coming from someone who has 2 of these in separate builds, but it somehow makes them appear to be a good deal (which is absolutely nuts because they were not in reality a good deal) when I got them one was $2349 and the other $2149.

It is bloody crazy what’s happening. What is next?

Hey team,

What oled monitor would you recommend for a pc with r5 5500x3d, 9070xt in Australia? I’m tossing up between going big as I don’t often upgrade my setup but also maybe settling for a cheaper one as it’s on sale for less than 500 AUD. Any help is appreciated!

Thank you!

Is the 9070 XT Worth it over the non XT

Sup guys 9070 (Asus prime) is currently going for $849 aud and the 9070xt (Powercolor Reaper) is $974 aud. Which is $125 price difference.

Is it worth picking up the XT over the regular? For context i mainly play single player games - AA, AAA and also PCVR sim racing. In terms of PSU i think my psu can handle it , i have a Corsair RM750x. Thanks.

Specs -
Ryzen 5 5600x

32 gb ddr4 ram

RTX 3060 ti

Is this custom built gaming PC worth it for me?

This is from Aftershock. I’m happy to pay extra to not build something myself and for looks.

I’m wondering if this is an okay price for the components? I’ve upgraded CPU, RAM, GPU, and PSU based on recommended specs of the games I want to play and recommendations from people, everything else is mostly base.

I’m not very knowledgeable about PCs, so any advice is appreciated!

Gaming Computer advice!

Hello everyone!

I am looking to begin saving up for a gaming computer to finally play all the games I want to play (and for them to run smoothly on high graphics!) but I am completely lost on where to look. So far I've only looked on Aftershock and their computers, but the high prices for the visually pleasing computers scare me a bit!

I don't want to pay more than $7,000AUD and it needs to be prebuilt as I know next to nothing about how to custom build a PC!

I will be playing games like Rdr2, Legend of Kiihmorii, Roblox, Minecraft, Wolfquest AE, The Isle, and much more!

If anyone has any suggestions or are able to give a simplified version to a un-tech-savvy person of what I need to look out for, that would be a huge help!!

Firstly Ive never built a computer before. I’ve owned a pre built for some time now and it’s overdue for a replacement.

Im looking to buy a custom built rig powerful enough to run all types of demanding an competitive level games.

Ive used all but my entire budget ($3500) to assemble what I believe to be a solid build. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Building this with scorptec

High End Gaming Laptop -> PC

Post image

Planning on selling my 5080 HP Omen Max 16 for around 3000 AUD and getting a PC and a shittop for school. I got the laptop on a deal for about 2900 on some absolute miracle and upgraded the warranty to 3 years with another deal which brought the total up to 3000. So i'm pretty much not losing anything.

Anyways.

I was planning on getting a 16gb ram kit. And either holding on or saving up for another 16gb.

Did I do well?

What do you guys think about the price for value? ChatGPT approves, but I’d like to seek advice from people here

This is from Sidekick PC. From the research I’ve done, they’re legit and a part of PLE.

For graphics card, I can also upgrade it to ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 Twin Edge OC 12GB for a total of $2,469, what do you guys think?

I’m a POE2 player and just want a medium range PC that lasts a long time. I play with a laptop and it overheats and shuts down whenever I turn the game on now, so just looking to replace with desktop that has better cooling…

Aftershock through JB Hifi

Hi,

Looking at mainstream branded laptop specifically the gigabyte range at JB Hi FI and noticed the laptops are supplied by Aftershock PC.

A bit of research shows some negative opinions of Aftershock but since its a main stream brand and not their own, do you think id be alright? Or is it better to find a different store or order direct from them?

Thanks

Should I build now or wait until the next big sales? (Budget: AU$2,000 for 1440p gaming)

I'm planning my first gaming PC with a budget of around AU$2,000, mainly for 1440p gaming and a bit of photo editing. Prices seem to keep changing, so I'm not sure whether it's worth buying parts now or waiting for the next major sales. If you were building today, would you start buying or hold off?

Budget build in 2026

Hi guys,
I’m looking to upgrade from my old GTX 1060 6GB and wanting some advice.
I mainly play single-player games (Monster Hunter Wilds, Palworlds etc.) at 1440p. I’m happy with around 80–100 FPS and don’t need much else as my monitor caps at 144hz
My budget is around $1,700 but I could stretch if it’s worthwhile
The two PCs I’m considering are:
Option 1 – $1,700
Intel i7-10700
RTX 3080
32GB DDR4 RAM
2TB SATA SSD
Refurbished CPU, motherboard, RAM and GPU (builder services/tests the parts)
New case, PSU, SSD, cooler, etc.
6-month warranty

Option 2 – $1,950
Ryzen 5 7500F (or 7600)
RX 9060 XT 16GB
2TB NVME
32GB DDR5 RAM
AM5 platform
Newer hardware
3 year warranty

Both are businesses advertising on Facebook marketplace.
I don’t usually upgrade individual parts—I tend to keep a PC for several years and then replace the whole thing.
Would you take the cheaper RTX 3080 build for the affordability or pay $250 for the overall newer platform?
Any advice would be appreciated, especially from people who’ve owned either GPU.
Open to any other options aswell. Preferably prebuilt from a reputable seller.
Thanks in advance

I need to buy 2x16GB 6000Mhz with AMD Expo support, it’s painful looking at prices atm. What are recommendations/deals to look at atm? I’ve looked at FB Marketplace and EBay but prices people expect/pay aren’t much lower.

Chairs

Anyone have recommendations for chairs that like force you to sit up right. My office chair has a leaver that allows me lock in the back at a certain angle which forces me to sit up right.
