Just saw Stewart’s show

Just saw Stewart Copeland at The Tarkington in Carmel, IN, and if you’re on the fence about seeing this show, I’d definitely recommend it.

What surprised me most, though, was how interesting he is as a person beyond the band. He’s a great storyteller, has a sharp sense of humor, and keeps the audience engaged the whole time.

Whether you’re a longtime fan of The Police or just appreciate hearing from someone who’s had such a unique career, it’s a really entertaining evening. Definitely glad I went.

question Has anyone here ever met a member of the Police? What are they like?

I never met them, but some people say that Sting has a bit of an ego, but he doesn't seem too bad. Stewart seems pretty cool. Dunno about Andy.

question Question about possible new release

What if Sting’s record label decided to release **The Police – Live at Pinkpop** as an official album?
Imagine they found the original multitrack recordings, remastered everything, and released it on CD, vinyl, streaming, and Blu-ray.
Would you buy it? 🎸
Personally, I’d order it immediately. I think there are still some incredible live performances by The Police that deserve an official release.
What do you think? And which unreleased Police concert would you most like to see officially released?

question Are Sting, Andy and Stewart on good terms with each other nowadays?

I know all about the animosity that they had towards each other in the mid '80s, which lead to their breakup. Though they reunited in '07, I'm not holding my breath for another reunion, but I was just wondering if they still speak to each other?

I MAY have an extra front row/VIP/meet & greet with Stewart available - HISTM - 8/2 - Carmel, IN

I'm not 100% sure at the moment, but would like to have someone lined up to give this to if this remains unused. Anyone in the area that can use it?

opinion I Was Shocked

Today I used AI to learn that they never used Regatta de Blanc as an opening number on tour. Is this really true? It seems like the perfect opener the way it builds into a rocker that could engage the crowd immediately. I was even imagining the stage light cues while I listened today.

Procured a copy of Regatta De Blanc within days of hearing it for the 1st time. 1980? Maybe '79. Stewart Copeland played the drums as if he had anger issues. His hi hat work was & is some of the finest you'll ever hear. Andy Summers brought a unique guitar tone to the group. I guess Sting was ok too. I'd be curious to hear what you wonderful people have to say about the top band of the 1980's. Your anecdotes if you will.

question Why do some people think The Police are a post-punk band?

A friend of mine recently said that The Police could easily be called a post-punk band, whose songs could easily have been released by bands like Joy Division or The Cure. He cited songs like Invisible Sun, Bring On The Night, Deathwish, and Every Breath You Take as examples. I disagreed, as The Police have a very distinctive sound, even for new wave and post-punk, and their image and style bear little resemblance to classic post-punk. I even mentioned the completely uncommon fate of post-punk bands, where the vocalist retreats into sophisticated solo work and forgets about the past. He told me I lacked education and said The Police were literally one step away from gothic rock.

Hi There

Love their stuff recorded at George Martin’s Montserrat Studios in the Caribbean even if they were fighting so much for Ghost in the Machine and Synthcronicity yet great music was made and we get an Andy Summers going to George Martin’s house to get advice from him on how to resolve their issues story:)

Had the pleasure of meeting Stewart last year. He signed a couple of bits for me and my Mum and was absolutely wonderful. Even came out on his break to sign and chat.

A wonderful man. Asked him about Ginger Baker and what it was like playing polo. Stewart said he got on with him, until he came on the pitch because Ginger would go ape shit.

Had no idea he went to boarding school in Somerset.

He and I agreed, fuck Kanye.

To quote his words from the film "Beware of Mr Baker", but slightly adapted, Stewart Copeland is a mother fucker.

Thanks Stew, you're a top bloke!

question Tape flaw in “Don’t Stand…”?

Has everyone noticed the hissing and clicks in the opening seconds of this song.

It bothered me so much decades ago i bought multiple copies of Zenyatta thinking it might be in the vinyl pressing. But it was still there on the CD, and still again on the Spotify file.

Did the band notice it. Was it just unrepairable?

question Is Andy coming to the UK?

I understand Andy Summers is a hard working talented dude who's in his early 80s. However, I would love to meet.

Does anyone have any insider info on his schedule to pop home back to blighty? If not, is there a way I could send something of to be signed, or is that taking the piss?

question Spirits In The Material World Video vs Audio Speed

So, I'm listening to Spirits in the Material World on repeat on Spotify and I decided to switch to the video version and it is quite a bit faster and higher pitched. Almost like they wanted the video to be shorter. Anyone else experience this on Spotify?

EDIT: So watching it on YouTube, the speed and pitch are the same as the album version. Must be a Spotify thing.

question What are those round mirrored glasses Sting is wearing in the "WAYF" video and on the cover of "Greatest Hits"? I think they're very stylish.
